CommTel cements position as a leading supplier of turnkey mission critical communications infrastructure with $15m in new contracts for a Tier 1 miner
Melbourne, Australia – 14-Apr-2023
For many years CommTel has supplied the vital communications network infrastructure that enables Australia’s major miners to operate safely, efficiently, and effectively in remote areas. As the mining industry continues to embrace leading-edge technology, such as through increased use of automation, their need and reliance on these networks is growing.
Two major contracts signed in recent months for a major iron ore miner in the Pilbara region of Western Australia highlight CommTel‘s industry-leading capability to deliver the effective turnkey technology solutions the mining industry requires.
Both contracts involve solutions designed, manufactured and installed by CommTel using its Rapid Site Solution shelter approach, and both will enable the miner to expand its activities and operate more safely, efficiently and effectively.
In line with this regional demand, CommTel is now opening a new warehouse and office in Osborne Park, Perth to provide a larger base to better serve the industry’s growing needs in WA.
CommTel Western Australia sales manager, Darryl Jones, said these two major contracts highlighted CommTel’s ability to deliver leading technology solutions at a large scale and on a turnkey basis.
“We design the right solutions to meet the customer’s specifications,” he said. “We manage all parts of the process, from design, manufacturing, installation and support, so the customer can continue to do what it does best while providing them with the latest technology solutions to grow and reduce their overhead costs.”
Both contracts involve CommTel’s Rapid Site Solution shelter. These innovative shelters are easy to transport as they are a standard high cube container size. They maximise the work that can be done in a controlled environment and are easy to install on site through simple site preparation and standard footings. Their robust construction, ease of deployment, minimal site impact, and potential for future redeployment mean they meet all customer requirements in a cost-effective way.
These contracts also include towers, power systems, microwave radio and voice mobile radio – all delivered as turnkey contracts. The approximate value of both contracts is in excess of $15 million and they will run through to 2024.
