There's a new bloke answering the phones at Budget Colour Copies, his name is Josh! He's also not real...
Yep, I've bitten the bullet and officially hired an AI receptionist.
Before anyone panics, no, the robots haven't taken over Budget Colour Copies. It's still just me, Bec, running the show.
And when I say *just me*, I mean JUST me.
I'm the Graphic Designer, printer, production team, customer service department, accounts department, cleaner, IT support, and occasionally the poor bu**er crawling around on the floor begging a printer to cooperate.
Somewhere in amongst all that, I'm also supposed to answer every phone call.
The reality is, I can't always do that.
When I'm working on machinery, dealing with customers in person, or elbow-deep in a job, answering the phone isn't always possible. But that doesn't mean your call isn't important.
So, meet Josh.
Josh is my AI receptionist. When you call Budget Colour Copies, he's the friendly voice you'll hear on the other end.
He'll take down the details of your enquiry, and I'll receive a transcript and summary of the conversation.
But here's the important bit:
Josh answers the phone.
Josh has a brief chat about what you need.
I read your enquiry.
I contact you back.
I discuss your job with you.
I design it.
I produce it.
I make sure it gets done.
There's no mysterious team behind the scenes. No outsourced production department. No army of robots secretly running the place.
Just one very real human, doing her best to run a small business without growing an extra six arms.
Josh isn't replacing the personal service you get from Budget Colour Copies. He's helping me make sure I can actually provide it.
So next time you ring and Josh answers, don't hang up! Have a chat, tell him what you need, and I'll take it from there.
And please be nice to him. He's only new and still learning, and unlike me, he hasn't learnt to swear at the printers. Yet...
Bec
