😡 Seriously, Facebook? How much more are small businesses expected to pay?
First, we were encouraged to build our business pages and grow our followers.
Then we had to start paying to reach the very people who chose to follow us.
Now Meta is introducing more paid subscription features, including additional ways to link to our own websites.
Enough is enough!
I've worked in digital marketing for over 20 years, and I genuinely believe it's time small business owners started questioning how much time, money and energy they're pouring into Facebook.
Don't get me wrong. Facebook still has its place. But building your entire marketing strategy around a platform you don't control? That's a risky business decision.
💡 It's time to focus on what really matters
✅ Your own website and content
✅ Genuine customer reviews and recommendations
✅ Local publicity and earned media
✅ Building an email database you control
✅ Getting found on Google and through AI search
✅ Creating relationships that turn into real customers
You don't need more followers. You need more customers.
I've written a new article explaining why I think businesses will increasingly reduce their reliance on Facebook, what earned media actually means, and seven practical ways to start building visibility without constantly paying Meta.
👇 Have a read and tell me what you think.
Are you getting value from Facebook, or are you getting tired of constantly paying to be seen?
