Yesterday's InterfaceXPO in Auckland was a brilliant way to meet schools across NZ, and the timing couldn't have been better.

Student online safety is at the forefront of a lot of educators' minds right now, and for good reason. In March 2026, New Zealand's parliament released one of the most important reports ever written about student online safety. Some of the findings in the Online Harm Inquiry are sobering:

🛑 NZ has one of the highest student bullying rates in the OECD
🛑 1 in 7 young Kiwis report being frequently bullied (about 15%)

Our team ran a workshop on Practical Approaches to Digital Safety and Web Filtering in Schools. As part of the workshop, we discussed the findings in the report, covering the impact bullying has on Kiwi schools, the types of harm schools are dealing with, and how Saasyan Assure can help address the gaps identified in the inquiry.

𝗢𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗳𝗶𝗲𝗹𝗱 𝗶𝘁 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲𝘀 𝗽𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗶𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗱𝗲𝗱𝗶𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗮𝗯𝘀𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘂𝘀𝘁. 𝗦𝗼 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 𝗯𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗰𝗹𝗮𝘀𝘀 𝘀𝘁𝘂𝗱𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝘀𝗮𝗳𝗲𝘁𝘆 𝘀𝗼𝗳𝘁𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗲.

Outside of work, Teale and her two German Shepherds are a serious team. Training in dog sports that demand precision, focus, and an incredible bond between handler and dog, she brings that same dedication to her role as Product Manager at Saasyan. 🐾

For Teale, student online safety is deeply personal. Her son navigated high school between 2012 and 2016 at a time when the technology to truly protect students online simply did not exist. Schools had no visibility, parents were flying blind, and she watched that play out in her own home.

Today she is determined to change that. As Product Manager, Teale has made it her focus to ensure Saasyan Assure supports schools in aligning with the eSafety Commissioner's framework, giving every school a clear pathway to whole of school online safety.

As she puts it: "The technology did not exist back then. Parents were flying blind and so were schools. It is why I am so driven to make sure that changes for every student today."

We're keeping the introductions moving ahead of ISNSW engagED on the Gold Coast (29 April – 1 May), today we're spotlighting Josiah.

Josiah is our Senior Product Support Specialist at Saasyan, leading the team that helps schools with onboarding, deployment, training, and helpdesk support. Off the clock, you'll find him raising two kids and laying down bass lines.

Meet Jordan, our Product Support Specialist and one of our go‑to experts for onboarding and training schools on Saasyan Assure, as well as providing top-notch helpdesk support. He has a strong interest in students' online safety and, outside of work, enjoys experimenting with new recipes.
