Everyone has a different take on hiring red flags..

We partnered with Startmate to ask recruiters, founders, partners and more 1 question:

What makes you say no to a candidate?

Some answers might hit a little too close to home đź‘€

If you don’t feel like a fraud, you’re probably not stretching far enough, that’s the reframe Fastlane CEO Jock keeps coming back to. Fastlane went from zero revenue to $1M ARR in about 2 and a half months, and none of it came from waiting until they felt ready. Watch how the founders talk about acting first and figuring the rest out along the way.

Nobody hands you a system for finding the right co-founder, you mostly just get lucky but you can stack the odds by putting yourself where good people already are from uni, hackathons, communities, cold emails that actually say something, this is the advice the Fastlane CTO wish he knew earlier.

How Fastlane 🏎️ went from $0 to $1M ARR in 2 months.

We sat down with the founders and the engineers from Lyra who helped them ship, to unpack how they actually pulled it off.

From building the product to seeing a user put $100 behind a single video that went on to hit 32 million views on TikTok, this story is full of moments that came down to speed, belief, and ex*****on.

We get into the co-founder search that mattered more than the funding, the “fake it till you make it” move that landed them the interview, and why they believe passion is the one thing you can’t fake in this market.

The Melbourne office did not exist when eddie_chann signed on in February.

Eddie joined in February, when Sydney was the only office, and the biggest change since then is the Collins Street office that opened in his own city not long after, where he is now rebuilding an entire onboarding flow for a US startup client.

He reckons the thing nobody tells Australian engineers is that you no longer have to leave the country to work on products like this, and that the pilates and matcha runs that Lyra funds are doing more for culture than anyone expected.

Full story with eddie_chann , drop him a question if you want the unfiltered version.

Ever applied for a job through an Instagram story?

That’s how it started for Eoin Redoblado . We sat down with him to talk through how he found his way to Lyra, what his days as an engineer actually look like, and why the culture here is the reason he’s stayed. From that first story reply to table tennis, poker and shipping real work for clients like Paraform , he covers everything.

Lyra is growing.

We’re hiring engineers and designers to build software and AI systems for some of the world’s most ambitious companies.

Early career or senior, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that you love hard problems and want to build things that actually ship.

Sound like you? Apply through the link in bio.

We asked our engineer how he turned a basic chatbot into a fully agentic assistant in 6 weeks.

Software Sauce Ep 2 is here and Bach is breaking down the full architecture from streaming, tool calling, RAG, prompt engineering, all of it.

The kind of video you bookmark and come back to when you’re actually building this stuff 🤖🔖
