Keeping in touch with your roots and continuing legacies, I believe, begins with coming back to yourself and allowing time for play... and for you.πŸ–ŒοΈ

🎨It is here, in times of stillness that your innate talents and callings can emerge, inadvertently connecting you with the people you research and wonder about so much.

Ever discovered a hobby or profession you'd been practicing for all your life that was identical that of one of your ancestors? A skill for writing, painting, music or woodcraft?

When the desire to stop digging at the ancestry sites and paper shuffling drives me away or drains me, I let myself rest and be called back to play.

After all, the process of organising photos and genealogy is one that should fill your cup and bring closure and connection and hopefully some joy.
When those moments elude you, or the trail has gone cold, my advice is to come back to yourself and do what calls you most.
Writing a page of a book, picking up your favourite craft, or creating...something, anything. That is where true connection can really be maintained.

After that last mouse click or stroke of the pen, when the final box has been filled on a pedigree sheet. How do you stay close to your history?

In coming times you will notice a continued shift in this account with these gentle musings in mind ...among other things. I hope you stay for that.

Recently I painted this ceramic dish while sitting in our beloved garden which inspired it.
It will be available on the website later this year with other art created by myself and my super creative mum. We hope to share our creations with you regularly, which will appear after our firing sessions in the Restora pottery. Watch this space!

I feel closest to my family roots when creating and repurposing old things and making do in the way our grandparents would have done by necessity and not just to be on trend.

Where will you put your energy today? What hobby or activity calls you and connects you to your roots?

The humble and very wonky first harvest of this summer's tomatoes. My late dad's favourite and planted in our garden every year as a quiet nod to him.

There's a gentle change happening here at Restorasnap where genealogy was front and centre to a more blended space that will now encompasse organic gardening, homesteading, bespoke ceramics, art and heirloom recipes. It is a natural and necessary process for us that aligns with our core values and interests in taking care of our beautiful planet.

No longer are we just as a storefront.
No hard sells, just a place to see and be inspired.
Restora is place to observe old ways revisited and rekindled along with the memories they evoke. In turn we are creating new stories for our next generation. A legacy we feel most worthy of laying the foundations for.

The new Restora promises to showcase a more gentle, simple lifestyle where people just like you can come along on our restoration journey and be inspired to come back to family stories via the tactile, authentic and life sustaining pastimes that saw our ancestors thrive.

We do hope you'll stay. 🌱🩷
