As always, it’s been a minute between pours but that still doesn’t stop us from enjoying the goods.
I stumbled across this bottle from Nelson’s Green Brier Distillery Reserve Bourbon as it landed on Aussie shores.

Thought it deserved its own Reel Review 😏

Welcome back for the first Reel Review of 2026!
I’ve been slack this year with the podcast and bottles but we are switching up the format.

Let’s hook in though - here is Jack Daniel’s Bonded Rye which by all accounts showed up in Australia a year earlier than expected.

None of the media fluff in the copy, just if it’s a banger or not. Honestly, slaps, reminds me why those Jack Daniel’s Ryes are so hot right now. Everyone wants BP Rye - I’ll sip this all day. Borderline KY style rye with that sweetness just showing up.

have teamed up with to create some spooky cocktails in preparation for those Halloween festivities.

I was invited down to brave their Trick or Treat menu which has been curated for the brave in mind.

They knew I was coming so they put a cuck chair in the corner for me.

The time and effort they spent dressing the venue looks great.

Of course you gotta go dessert before dinner so trick was up first - I hit the “Blood Moon Sour”

- Smokehead Islay Single Malt, Lemon, Demerara, Mulled Wine & Egg White

Of course I had to hit the dark side, with a “The Devils Breath”

- Smokehead Islay Single Malt, Ancho Reyes Chilli Liqueur, Pedro Ximénez Sherry & Black Walnut Bitters

Cocktails are on menu until Saturday 1st November so something they would charge $25 for, you get for $10 which is amazing!

Head down to The Doss House and get in on the action.

It’s been a minute but we are back with another Reel Review!

What a bottle to kick off with, Makers Mark (not really but stick with me) Star Hill Farm Whisky.

First new mash bill in 70 years which is wild - blend of two mash bills 100% wheat & 80/20.

Profits of this bottle sale will support regenerative farming practices. All in all, great cause.

Bottle is an absolute banger, cherry cola and chocolate on the nose.
Thick chewy caramel is where that palate is at.
Finish is crème brûlée to toasted pecans and wood spice. My perfect bottle imo.

Bourbon nerds coming together is such a cool experience! Makers Mark Diplomat took us on a journey though the Makers Portfolio accompanied by Rob Samuels himself all to announce the latest bottle hitting our shelves - Star Hill Farm.

A blend of two mashbills makes this product highly coveted as it’s the first time they have switched up making their whisky. This 7YO yearly release will be the front runner for their regenerative farming push to get as many of the farmers embracing a regenerative farming lifecycle on their crops.

100% of the profit will be moved into a fund to help farmers make the move which is such a cool initiative to get behind.

I know I’m in for a bottle or two 😏

Guess who’s up this week?
That’s right - I sweet talked Darren Peck from to come on and talk all things distilling. So it was only fitting that I went and treated myself to a fat stack of burgs (quad cheesy, you know me 😏).

I really hope you guys enjoy this podcast - Darren was an absolute gem with a huge distilling history all over the globe.
