Statement in regards to former employee Thomas McGuirk
I would like to personally thank everyone who has spoken out against Thomas McGuirk’s inexcusable behaviour and especially thank those who brought it to my direct attention on Saturday morning.
I was shocked and disgusted to hear the disrespect and entitlement towards women appear in the recordings and messages attached to the Instagram post.
I strongly reject any behaviour of this kind, at any time, in any place, for any reason. There is no excuse that makes this ok - ever.
Invenco’s core values centre around respect for all. Our culture of respect is very important to us and there is no place in our team for anyone who exhibits behaviours in conflict with these values.
As soon as I heard the recordings and saw the images, I instantly determined this as an act of serious misconduct. The awareness of this act rendered Thomas McGuirk as unsuitable for continuing employment with Invenco, and I terminated his employment effective immediately at 8.53 am on Saturday morning.
Prior to his termination, Thomas McGuirk was a very new hire for Invenco and had only been in his role for 6 weeks. This new role was filled by a reputable recruitment company who shortlisted, screened and reference checked Thomas McGuirk as a suitable candidate for this role. Had we been aware of the serious misalignment in core values, Thomas McGuirk would not have been hired for any role at Invenco.
Thank you again for calling out this unacceptable behaviour and bringing it to my attention so that I could take swift and appropriate action.
I hope that together we can all keep moving forward and stamp out this kind of behaviour once and for all.
