The Omnifixo OF-M4 is back in stock at K & A Electronics!

We started using Omnifixo and we love the portability and versatility of these third hands. They make soldering connectors like the AMASS XT-60 and cables a breeze. They are a welcome addition to our bench and compliment our PCBite set.

Jasper is making an appearance on Saturday for the 2023 Mardi Gras Parade. We are supporting Trans Australia and Allies with their float. It’s going to be a spectacular event!

Here was our submission for Vivid Sydney 2023 that unfortunately did not make it through.

CHARLOTTE; a homage to our most important eco-warrior 'the spider'!

Our installation asks viewers to look at our micro-environment and harness the moral vision of human beings to live in harmony with our natural world.

CHARLOTTE is an interactive display. As the viewer walks closer to CHARLOTTE, it's LIDAR sensors pick up on the movement and CHARLOTTE moves towards the source of the movement in order to protect it's eggs. The eggs pulsate faster as the potential threat moves closer. In the background, a dystopic sound track plays to build upon the visuals. CHARLOTTE's digital eyes light up and track the viewer as they move around. Legs and the body also move to track the viewer.

We are starting a little series on the behind the scenes of creating Jasper.

Part 1: After 80hrs on CAD, we converted 35 sheets of formply into the puzzle pieces to create Jasper. The sheets were cut on a CNC router. It took 3 of us 8hrs to power through the sheets.

Jasper main construction is a steel frame and the formply pieces mount onto the frame to create the details.

Up next we will explain the painting process for how Jasper got it’s unique rusty colour.
