At the recent Enfocus Partner Event, I spotted a Hungarian license plate that read: JPG-664.

Of all the formats to photobomb my day, it had to be JPG... the plucky, lossy legend that’s somehow still hanging around modern workflows like a guest who won’t leave the party.

It got me thinking:
• JPG: ubiquitous and convenient, but not always print-friendly.
• JPG2000: its smarter cousin - lossless potential, alpha channel support, and more… yet still mostly relegated to niche corners of the industry.
• JPG-664? Possibly the secret model that fixes everything from DPI despair to downsampling drama.

Naturally, the Enfocus Software crew had thoughts - and yes, PitStop Pro knows the difference.

Let this be your reminder:
Before you send that file to print, check your format. Because nothing says “surprise!” like a compressed image blowing up at 300dpi.
