WordPress security update 🔐

There have been several security vulnerabilities and updates across WordPress and popular plugins recently, including a critical vulnerability in Elementor Pro.

WordPress itself has also had recent security releases, with WordPress 7.1 now available.

This is a good reminder that keeping your website, plugins and themes updated isn't just about getting new features. Updates often contain important security fixes.

WordPress 7.0 has been released today.

If your site is on WordPress and you manage your site updates, it is a good time to check for new core, theme and plugin versions. As always, it is worth making sure everything is compatible after updating, as changes can occasionally affect site layout or functionality.

Make sure your contact form is actually working.

A broken form can quietly cost you enquiries for weeks before anyone notices 👀

Test it regularly, check your spam folder, and make sure submissions are arriving where they should.

The 28th January - Data Privacy Day

A day late, but still a timely reminder to pause and check your online habits.

A few simple ways to stay safer online:

• Use strong, unique passwords (a password manager helps)
• Turn on two-factor authentication
• Don’t share personal information or sensitive passwords via email or text
• Use a secure password-sharing tool like password.link when sending login details
• Be cautious with links and public Wi-Fi

If you run a website, it’s also a good time to review your privacy policy. In Australia, many businesses are required to have one if they collect personal information through forms, bookings, analytics, or email marketing. Clear policies help build trust and confidence.
