As organisations deal with external security threats, they must not ignore the mounting risks of internal vulnerabilities – sometimes unintentional, but just as damaging. A strong culture of security and integrity is essential to resilience.

As such, an effective insider risk program should include:

📋 Onboarding security checks and employee screening
🧑🏫 Employee training and security awareness sessions
🧑💻 Monitoring potential security risks
🚨 Implementing effective reporting systems

Cyber threats aren’t slowing down, and neither should cyber defence investment.

Co-founder, Group Chief Information Security Officer ( ) and MD Asia Prashant Haldankar considers what this year’s Federal Budget means for Australia’s cybersecurity landscape and why indirect investment may not be enough:

🫥 Cyber support exists, but “hidden” in Defence and National Security allocations
📉 Risk of underinvestment increases, while threats and breach costs rise
⁉️Mixed signals could weaken national preparedness

does not mean .

For years, businesses have relied on compliance to demonstrate security, but ticking the right boxes doesn’t necessarily mean you’re protected.

The future of demands a more progressive approach: one involving both continuous assessment and real-time risk management. This means identifying, understanding, and managing risks as they appear, with the help of continuous assessment models such as the Continuous Authority to Operate (cATO). While implementation challenges lie ahead, it is a step in the right direction as GRC heads towards convergence.
How can move from compliance-driven security to real risk management?

’s , Risk & Compliance team took on the Hunter Valley for their first ever team offsite last week. With our expanding talent pool across the region, it was critical to connect in-person for team building and strategy development.

The team exchanged inspiring best practices and pragmatic coalface learnings from client projects, as well as shared knowledge of: our new service offerings; how we can productively and ethically leverage ; and cross-regional client engagements across the US and Southeast Asia.

It wasn’t all work – the team also had some fun gastronomic experiences with pizza making, wine, cheese and pie pairings, and an intimate bonfire gathering complete with toasted marshmallows and mulled wine.

Proud of our amazing Practice and the incredible work they deliver for our clients – keep raising the bar!
