With many people travelling back after the long weekend, roads are likely to be more congested than usual - and that’s when risks increase.

A few simple reminders can make a big difference on the journey home:

🚗 Plan ahead: allow extra time and expect delays
🛑 Take regular breaks: fatigue creeps in faster than you think
📵 Stay distraction-free: eyes up, phone away
🚦 Drive to the conditions: traffic, weather, and visibility can change quickly
🦺 Buckle up, every trip: short drives still matter

Whether you’re heading home from a getaway or back on the road for work, getting there safely is what counts.

Today is Fatality Free Friday.

The idea is that if we can go one day without a death on the road, then with a focus on road safety for every other day of the year, we can have a great impact, and change the statistics.

This campaign was first introduced in 2007 by the Australian Road Safety Foundation (ARSF).

What happens when we get an order for a device?

We have standard operating procedures that we adhere to. Within those is a project template which is basically our Bible.

Each project template includes tasks and descriptions which we follow for every single order from:
1. Collecting the hardware from the cupboard storage
2. Configuring the Trackd platform
3. Provisioning the hardware
4. Organising Shipping
5. Installation + installation checks

We also go through a thorough QA Check process and the QA stickers and labels are included to show proof of this.

Planning your journey might seem simple - but it can make a huge difference when it comes to road safety.

As part of National Road Safety Week's Day 5 theme, “Plan Your Journey”, it’s a reminder that safer trips often start *before* the engine turns on.

Knowing your route, allowing extra travel time, checking traffic conditions, planning rest breaks, and avoiding unnecessary pressure on drivers can all help reduce risk on the road.

For businesses managing fleets, journey planning also plays an important role in:
📍 Improving visibility across operations
⛽ Reducing unnecessary fuel usage
🛠 Minimising delays and downtime
🦺 Supporting safer driving behaviours

The more prepared a journey is, the safer and more efficient it tends to be for everyone involved.

How does your business approach journey planning across vehicles and drivers?

Data doesn’t improve driver behaviour. Conversations do.

Telematics can highlight what’s happening.

But improvement comes from what happens next.

Coaching.
Clarity.
Consistency.

Because behaviour change doesn’t come from alerts.
It comes from leadership.

How often are you coaching vs just monitoring?

There are a plethora of benefits to using dashcams in your vehicles when it comes to insurance claims.

Cloud-connected dashcams don’t just record incidents. They provide clear, unbiased evidence that protects drivers and reduces claim disputes.

Fleets with dashcams can benefit from:
✔️ Providing evidence in the event of an incident
✔️ Faster claim resolution
✔️ Protection against false accusations
✔️ Improved driver behaviour over time

Dashcams are a simple way to reduce costs and improve safety. That’s a win-win.

The driver shortage dilemma has been a big topic for a while.

And it's not going away any time soon.

As fleet operators, the things to focus on when it comes to retaining your staff are:
- Better safety environments
- Clear expectations
- Fair, data-backed conversations
- Recognition for good performance
