Tick-tock, the mouse ran up the clock - short animation. 🕰️🐁

This was an activity for my animation course. We had to create a 10-second animation to demonstrate a pendulum swing. I decided to add a few extra elements - just for fun. Mouse and SFX. 🐭🎚️

'A Night at the Music Hall' - cut paper-style short animation.

This was my most challenging animation project to date. I had never used Adobe After Effects prior to starting my animation course earlier this year.

I used one of my first assignment activities as a training exercise. (Self-taught. Thank goodness for YouTube.) Lots of mistakes. But it gave me the confidence to tackle something more complex.

Key takeaways:
🟠 Have a clear plan and narrative.
🟠 An organised AE folder structure is a must.
🟠 Test regularly.

I also learned that I love this style of animation and plan to do more.

I saw this quote and immediately connected with it. It sums up how I feel. You don't have to follow everyone else. There is no one right way to live, be creative, or build a career. The most interesting things happen when we look at them from a different perspective.

A must-have skill for any artist or designer.

Spoons in motion - a short stop-motion animation 🥄🎬

I created this animation for a recent university assignment. It was inspired by the iconic choreography of 1930s filmmaker Busby Berkeley.

I love how stop motion can turn everyday objects into a performance piece. This project was a fun mix of experimental animation, vintage film inspiration, and creative problem-solving.

Creativity community: Why is it so important?

On Friday morning, I was at The Forefronta Creative Mornings Brisbane talk and meetup. Great conversations, new connections, and an inspiring speaker, Ben from Composit Design. It reminded me that creativity doesn't happen in isolation. You need community. A place to gain insight from different perspectives and other people's experiences. That's what CreativeMornings does for me.

This mixed-media artwork was created in Procreate from a photo I took that morning of The Forefront overlooking the Brisbane River. It was the perfect image to pair with this week's quote:

"Community is a place where connections are made, relationships are built, and support is given." - Unknown.

Logo development - from black and white to colour with a grunge aesthetic.

For my recent album cover design project, I designed a custom graffiti-style logo for my fictional musician, Shakespeare.

I began with rough thumbnail sketches, then jumped into Adobe Illustrator. As always, I began with black and white. Once I had a logo that worked, I played with colour. In the end, I went with a distressed street-art style.

These variations show how colour can really change the mood and personality of a logo, and why experimentation in design is so important.
