BAD MOBILE PHONE RECEPTION IN SOMERVILLE
Good morning Somervilleans,
Can you relate to that headline? If so, we need your help.
There is a possible solution on the table. Council are currently considering an application for a new mobile phone tower in the Pottery Rd/Webbs Lane area. However the application has received 18 objections, probably from people who already have excellent mobile phone reception and haven't considered the rest of us. They've probably also used that lie about "mobile phone towers causing disease", which was scientifically disproved a long time ago.
Council are broadly aware of isolated instances of poor reception in Somerville, but are not aware of how widespread the problem is. When Council look at Telstra's coverage map, they are left with the false impression that there is already good mobile phone coverage across the town.
We need to inform Council about how many people are affected by poor mobile phone reception, and the areas that are affected. If you'd like to see improvements to your mobile service, then you need to ACT NOW and email the Council Planning Department as follows:
[email protected]
Attention: Mr Graham Scott, Planner,
Somerville Mobile Phone Tower Application P22/1434
Please tell them who you are, and the location where you live or work where you have mobile phone reception problems. We need to demonstrate to Council that there is a widespread problem, so that they make their final decision in the knowledge that any proposal to upgrade mobile phone reception in Somerville would benefit a lot of people.
Please don't leave it to someone else. Do it now. This may be your last chance to ever get better reception, because no service provider will make application for a new tower in the future where it is known they'll receive objections.
OVER TO YOU!
(Please share widely with others who may have bad reception. Thanks for your time.)
