Regardless of whether you love or hate Artificial Intelligence, one thing is clear: it has supercharged online scams and fraud.

It used to be relatively easy to spot a scam. Poor grammar, strange links, obvious red flags...perhaps like the creative below. 😆

Now, phishing and social engineering are far more polished and believable, and much harder to spot. In some cases, they look completely legitimate.

The ACCC has flagged that AI is making scams cheaper, faster, and far more convincing. Worth a read if you haven’t seen it:

Audit…Does the word put a chill up your spine?

When a company hears they’re going to be externally audited, the instinctive reaction is usually panic. People picture someone turning up with a clipboard just waiting to pull their ISMS apart.

But here’s the truth:

Good auditors aren’t out to fail you.

They’re not hunting for “gotchas” or trying to derail your certification.

A good auditor wants to understand how your business actually works, highlight gaps you may not have noticed, and help you strengthen what you already have in place.

They’re essentially a second set of expert eyes someone who wants you to walk away better than when you started.

So instead of viewing your auditor as the enemy, try flipping the mindset:

They’re not there to catch you out.

They’re there to make sure your ISMS is real, defendable, and genuinely working for your business not just existing on paper.

When you look at it that way, an audit becomes less of a threat…and more of an opportunity.

How do you treat your CISO?

Before a breach:
“Cybersecurity is important, but we do not have the budget. I am sure our IT team can handle it. Let us revisit this in the new financial year.”

After a breach:
“How did this happen? Why did you, as our CISO, not prevent this? This was your responsibility.”
