Got an XDJ-RX3 playing up? This one’s for you. 👀

Edition #03 of You broke it, you fix it gets into four common XDJ-RX3 problems, what’s usually causing them and the parts that can get them sorted.

Depending on the fault, the fix could mean replacing an entire board or screen. If you can solder, you may be able to save some cash by replacing an individual socket, switch or pot instead.

Just be honest about your skill level before you attack your unit with a screwdriver and blind confidence. 😅

Pretty in pink! 😍💕

Earlier this year, we booted the stock LEDs out of a Pioneer CDJ-2000NXS2 and swapped them for a fresh pink look. This mod does not alter the functionality of the device, it just makes your DJ setup look waaay more unique to better match your vibe!

This is possible on older units like the CDJ-2000, CDJ-2000NXS and even some Pioneer mixers that use the same LED type.

This mod is not for the faint of heart. If you are keen to switch up your gear with custom lighting, we have a huge range of colours including orange, green, blue, red and (of course) pink.

140 repairs and on-site fixes in one month. That’s an unreasonable number of screws! 👀

August was a big one at Disco Techs. The $129 CDJ service kicked off and kept plenty of decks rolling through the workshop, but they were far from the only things keeping our techs busy.

Mixers, turntables, speakers, all-in-one systems, amps, controllers, a hazer and a stack of on-site fixes all made the list.

Most of the gear we work on never makes it onto the feed, so here’s a little look at what passed across our workbenches throughout August. Swipe through to see what kept us busy. 👀

A heaphone plug snapped off inside this Euphonia. 😬😮

Trying to fish it out can damage the socket, so Georgia and Tyler are cracking open the mixer and replacing the entire quarter-inch headphone jack.

The Euphonia is a relatively new visitor to our workshop. It’s AlphaTheta’s hybrid digital and analogue rotary mixer, so naturally, we also wanted a sneaky look inside. 👀

What should have been a quick repair took a little longer than expected, but the new socket is in, tested and working perfectly. This is why we don't work in teams. 😅

Feeling like Amazon these days... Except not evil. 📦😂

Come pack a couple of recent online orders with Georgia and have a stickybeak at what’s heading out of the Disco Techs workshop.

First up, a Panel B Assembly and sheet switch for a CDJ-3000. Both are parts you’d generally replace rather than repair, and judging by the combination, Georgia has a sneaking suspicion there might be a drink-damaged CDJ getting some much-needed attention. 👀

Next, three centre detent pots and a headphone board for an XDJ-RX2. A little freshen-up for someone local who’s collecting their parts directly from us in Moorabbin.
