The SA Sire Evaluation Field Day last Friday June 12th will be deemed as a success with around 80 punters soaking up the information via industry presenters, the sire progeny displayed and service provider displays by sponsors.

Well attended by stud owners and representatives but perhaps the day was lacking a much needed larger support from the commercial woolgrower sector.

Maybe ‘Sire Evaluation’ suggests a hint of ‘for studs only’ yet quite to the contrary with the information gleaned from such a day is directed at all sectors of out great industry, commercial and stud alike.

Keep this blurb on the burner for the 2027 field day where the Beatles will be performing a one off gig just for you!🥴

One local Sheepclasser honoured his threat of a roady to all clients who turned up for the day at the local. Make him poorer in ‘27!! - BW

The SA Sire Evaluation committee are happy that the following guest was able to find the time to speak to us with all things livestock DNA at tomorrow's SAMSET Field Day.

Dr Greg Sawyer, a respected expert in sheep science, has recently joined Neogen to support Australian producers in maximising the value of genomic technologies.

With more than 30 years of experience in pastoral management, livestock research, and advanced genomic innovation, Greg brings a unique blend of practical insight and scientific depth to the industry’s leading provider of livestock DNA solutions.

Greg helps producers troubleshoot specific flock challenges, identify targeted DNA testing strategies, and accelerate genetic gain with confidence.

His expertise strengthens Neogen’s commitment to delivering tailored, expertise‑driven solutions that drive greater value, efficiency, and innovation across the livestock industry.

Another lure to hopefully see your face at the South Australian Merino Sire Evaluation at Turretfield Research Centre (suddenly) this Friday June 12th.

Watch this drone capture from the 2025 Field Day of the layout of the sire progeny pens with all trait and classing data exhibited.

Also picture this same perspective yet with commentary from data explanation king, Ben Swain of BCS Agribusiness followed by hopefully one hundred+ eager ears guiding them through the alley way to grasp what AMSEA trials are all about.

Two Sire Drop Evaluations, twenty two pens of trait evaluated and classed progeny from potentially industry leading sires.

Factual relevant trials fastidiously run by an energetic group or the historic alternative of no consequence - easy choice, see you Friday.💥

A very special guest is presenting at this years SA Sire Evaluation Trial. Ben Swain of BCS Agribusiness will give us a pen by pen visual and trait description of all progeny in both trials, the 2025 and 2024 drops. His expertise in this area is a hallmark of most AMSEA trial Field Days across the nation and his commentary, second to none.

He will also give us an update on the now, physically completed MLP projects across the six sites involved over eight years across the nation as well as the upcoming MLP Results Seminars in June, July and August.

Although SA was not a part in hosting any MLP trial, there is strong evidence to suggest that SA will be part of the seminar rollout with a small amount of bribery and sway. Let Ben be your best friend on June 12th.

That project and AMSEA Field Days like today are heavily sponsored by Australian Wool Innovation with much acknowledgement.
