Great to be apart of and sponsor the Connecting Copper & Gold Forum in Gladstone this week.

The line-up of speakers gave a real look at what's coming down the pipeline for copper and gold projects across Queensland, and the scale of investment heading into the region over the next few years is hard to ignore. One thread that kept coming up: copper demand tied to AI and data centre growth. Every server rack, every substation, every kilometre of grid upgrade needs copper, and the projects in this region are positioned to meet a chunk of that demand as the AI build-out accelerates globally.

Beyond the content, the room was full of the right people. Is was great to have the opportunity to share what CROSS APAC Group does across safety consulting, recruitment and aviation charter with proponents who are gearing up for exactly the kind of workforce and logistics challenges we solve.

Thanks to Connecting Industry for putting together a forum that delivered on substance. Looking forward to seeing where some of these projects land.

Workplace health and safety now includes wellbeing, mental health, psychosocial risks, bullying, harassment, fatigue, stress and workplace culture.

Under the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Qld), businesses must provide a work environment that is safe and without risks to health, so far as is reasonably practicable. This includes managing psychosocial hazards that may cause physical or psychological harm.

Businesses also need to be aware of their positive duty under the S*x Discrimination Act 1984 (Cth) (amended in December 2022) to take proactive steps to prevent workplace s*xual harassment, s*x discrimination, s*xist conduct and victimisation.

A safe workplace is one where people feel respected, supported and able to speak up.

Because wellbeing is safety.

Wage changes are coming. Is your business ready?

The Fair Work Commission has announced changes to minimum wages from 1 July 2026, including an increase to the National Minimum Wage and minimum modern award wages. Fair Work advises that these changes apply from the first full pay period on or after 1 July 2026.

Now is the time for businesses to check:

✓ Applicable awards and classifications
✓ Allowances, loadings and penalty rates
✓ Employment contracts and payroll systems
✓ Apprentice, trainee and junior rates where relevant
