Reddit is addressing the problem of increasing numbers of content scrapers:
Reddit announced that the site will gradually become a "logged-in service," offering limited access to visitors without accounts. For the past 20 years, the discussion platform has let users browse almost all its content without logging in.

The two main points for this upcoming change are the need to offer users more personalisation and to address the increasing problem of content scrapers.

To tackle this, a new pilot test will begin in selected markets outside the US in the coming months, requiring users to log in to access the site's full content. However, what content will be restricted, what countries will be impacted first, and rollout timelines have not been determined at this time.

While the Trump Mobile T1 held up well in tests, opening it revealed something more interesting: its internal hardware is identical to the HTC U24 Pro, a Chinese-made phone released in July 2024 that has mixed to lukewarm reviews (scoring poorly at 2.9 out of 5). OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has argued that having people run AI models locally on their computers is a “terrible” allocation of scarce resources, as it leaves significant portions of the world's limited DRAM supply underutilized.

He stated, “It's actually quite terrible to have everyone holding a significant portion of the world's limited DRAM supply in their own computers, only using it 5% of the time.”
