What a day at EOS APAC 2026 in Sydney last week!

We were live sketching and capturing key insights live on a single mural throughout the day — from Marisa Smith & Beth Fahey's Rollout Workshop, to Dan Williams on leadership & management, Sonya Jury connecting the EOS dots, and Daniel Davis closing out with EOS Life.

Alongside that, we ran our IdeaSketch™ activation, asking attendees: "If you had a magic wand, what's ONE thing you'd change about your business?" The ideas people shared — and seeing them sketched back in real time — were brilliant.

We also loved getting to share our Visual Operating System (VOS®) with the EOS community and show how visual thinking can bring their goals to life.

Sending our support to Save the Preston Market's campaign to name Reservoir Library after the late Cr Gaetano Greco.

Back in 2022, we created a sketch video to help Gaetano share his message during his campaign to save Preston Market — a project we're still proud of. A library carrying his name in the suburb he served for so long feels like a fitting way to honour everything he fought for.

It is more than a year since Gaetano Greco's passing, and we at Save the Preston Market Action Group are excited to support a local campaign to rename the Reservoir Library in his honour.

Cr Angela Villella will be tabling community submissions at the Council meeting on Tuesday, 25th of August. We encourage members of the Darebin community to write to their Councillors in the lead up to this meeting.

Reservoir Library is a place of learning and community right in the heart of Gaetano’s North West ward. We think it's a perfect place to honour Gaetano formally. Please give this campaign a follow for more details about how to support!

Trust in local government is built one clear explanation at a time.

Councils are being asked to be more transparent than ever. But transparency isn't just about releasing more information — it's about making genuinely complex systems (legislation, budgets, competing priorities) understandable to people who don't have time to read a policy document.

That's the real communication challenge local government faces, and it's one we love solving.

For the City of Kalamunda's KalaExplained series, we worked with their team to take one of the topics residents ask about most — rates — and turn it into a two-minute, hand-drawn explainer that makes the system visible, not just the outcome.

Digital vs. paper graphic recording: does the medium matter?

Short answer: yes, and it's not just about nostalgia.

Digital graphic recording has real advantages — easy to share, edit, zoom, project live on a big screen. It's practical, and it works well, especially for hybrid or remote sessions.

But there's something about watching a marker hit real paper that a screen can't replicate.

It's tactile. It's honest — no undo button, no layers, no fixing a wobbly line after the fact. What you see is exactly what happened, in real time, in the room.

There's also the physical presence of it. A 2-metre paper mural fills a wall. People stand in front of it, point at their idea, take a photo next to it. It becomes part of the room, not just content on a screen.

Digital is efficient. Paper is memorable.

Both have their place — but if you want a room to stop and stare, paper still does something digital can't quite match.

Most councils already have a translation process in place for community communications. Documents get sent off, "translate this page" requests get added, multilingual flyers go out with the best intentions.

But translation only solves half the problem. It converts words — not necessarily understanding.

A translated ten-page consultation document is still a ten-page document. It still asks a reader to process the same length, structure, and administrative logic as the English original — just in a different language.

We wrote about why this gap exists, and what a visual-first approach to community engagement actually looks like in practice.
