On the 8th of November, Australian Signals Directorate’s Australian Cyber Security Centre released an Advisory for the Emotet malware. The ACSC claims that "Attacks against Australian businesses and organisations are ongoing and pose a significant risk to Australian entities.".

In most cases, Emotet begins with a malicious email sent with an attachment - typically a Word or PDF file - that contains the payload. Upon opening the file, the payload infects the PC and commences its attack.

Whilst antivirus or endpoint protection software alone is inadequate to completely prevent against attacks of this nature, it is critical to acknowledge that without an enterprise-grade solution installed on every end-user device and server within your business, you are putting yourself in harms way.
