State Of The Art Creative

I am very excited to share that State Of The Art has been selected for the first cohort of FLIP - Female Leadership Innovation Program 🥰 (by State Of The Art, I mean me).

From hundreds of applicants, SOTA is one of just 24 ventures selected to take part in this 9-week Australian business accelerator.

I built and released SOTA this year with a pretty simple idea at heart: to help teenagers learn how to create, not just scroll and consume. To build strong knowledge in art and design, and how to use AI as a creative tool alongside that knowledge.

The response so far has been amazing, and being selected for FLIP is a really exciting opportunity to take SOTA further.

If you are already here, you are early to the conversation and for that, I am grateful ❤️ There is so much more I want to bring to this community, and I am really looking forward to sharing the journey with you 🙏

I asked myself this exact question before I created SOTA. I didn't want my kids 'blindly' using AI for everything. I also did not want to keep them away from it and hope they would catch up later.

I created SOTA to look at AI through the lens of digital art, design and creativity. That means teaching kids how to use AI as a tool, while developing the skills that make them creative thinkers first!

Teens learn things like:
• How to use AI responsibly
• How to question what AI produces
• Why human creativity still matters
• How to create digital art and design with intention
• How to understand visual communication and design principles
• How to use AI without handing over their thinking to it
• How to think about originality, ownership and ethical use
• How these skills are changing the creative world and the jobs that come with it

As a designer, I don't think the goal should be:
"How do I stop my child using AI?"
I think a better question is:
"How do I teach my child to use AI well?"
That is a very different conversation.

And honestly, I think parents who are asking these questions now are not behind. You are early.

The world of education and employment is changing quickly, and our kids are going to need more than the ability to use the latest AI tool.

They are going to need to think, create, question, communicate and make good decisions. That is what SOTA helps them build.

Not kids who scroll or kids who can "run a basic prompt.
Kids who know what to do with the technology.
