STRA will be travelling via SA and NSW to WA in March and April 2026. If your local retransmission site needs assessment and possible repairs or upgrading then we can provide that on site assessment for $2000 plus GST. But you must be in NSW, SA or Southern WA to qualify for this subsidised rate. Contact us as soon as possible as our schedule is filling up.

Loss of SBS and ABC Television - essential changes for rural communities.

The national digital television services ABC and SBS are changing satellite platforms this year. Not all rural communities are set up to utilise the VAST platform for the national TV services. Therefore one of two things is required before August 2024.

Satellite Television and Radio Australia are now scheduling site visits to affected rural communities. If your community transmits either or both of these services, in order to retain them you will need to make at least one of these changes.

Contact Satellite Television and Radio Australia via email [email protected] or call 07 3103 0477 soon if you wish to retain these services.

Self-Help SBS Television Providers Optus D2 Migration Support

Starting 30th January 2024, the SBS Digital Television Distribution Service (DTDS) carried on Optus D2 @160°E will begin transitioning to alternate satellites.

To maintain the reception of SBS television services via satellite beyond August 1, 2024, providers will be required to adjust/retune their local set up or transition to using VAST services.

Without any intervention, the satellite service you receive will go off air.

The recent power issues in the WA wheatbelt and goldfields has caused a number of problems at council TV and radio retransmission sites.

Power surges when the power comes back on has damaged older TV and radio retransmission equipment - some expensive components are irreparable, and obviously the TV is off air when the power is out. Damage to equipment from power surge should be covered via council’s insurance. Similar issues have affected Queensland council sites in recent times.

Replacement components are not always readily available in Australia, however STRA may have what’s required in some instances or be able to source components quickly.
