UPDATE ON THE PIT & SEAT BARBECUE BBQ & VOLUNTARY RECALL.
This upgraded version Barbecue 2.0 is now officially certified, Certificate number 9475 and will be available 26 March 2026.
We’ve had complaints that triggered a review by Energy Safe Victoria and the Department of Mines, Industry Regulation and Safety. Even though our barbecue was fully AGA gas-certified and passed all testing, the regulators reviewed out gas certification and made the decision to withdrew the certification over the flame size and warning label not being colour and large enough, plus now the gas hose that connect to the gas bottle is too long and only should be 1.5 meters and not the 3 meters like it is.
We followed every rule from the start.
We paid for full AGA gas certification cost to have the our BBQ certified, $15,000 AUD.
We acted above board at every step to follow the rules.
Because of these changes and the suspension to the original gas certification we’ve been instructed to conduct a voluntary recall. All customers have been contacted, and refunds and return shipping are covered by us.
NOW FOR THE POSITIVE SIDE:
This situation has actually strengthened our business, and that’s thanks to Sophy and the team at Garfield Metal Products Tianjin Co. Ltd, these guys have been phenomenal.
Sophy has gone above and beyond to support us, redesign the product, push for the highest standards and supply the replacement parts needed for re-certification. Garfield Metal Products is a world-class manufacturer with products already in major global retailers. They want to see us succeed in Australia, and they’ve stood by us through every step of this process.
Together, we have rebuilt the barbecue from the ground up.
The new version includes:
- A refined, controlled flame output
- A stronger and safer grill design
- Updated and improved warning labels. (Coloured)
- A shorter gas cable to meet the latest requirements
Thanks Jeff!
