So excited to meet & talk to Isabella, the humanoid robot, today at the City of Joondalup Business Forum “Joondalup 2050 - Realising the Vision”. Also featured were ECU’s robotic dog (named Spartan?); speech from Premier for WA Hon Roger Cook MLA; artist impressions of the Ocean Reef Marina (currently under construction), and what our city could look like in the future; the Expanding Horizons 2033 strategic community plan; panel discussion including representatives from state government, ECU, North Metro TAFE, and Joondalup Health Campus. Great to see local, national, & international guests in attendance, with a good representation from Joondalup Business Association Board and members! Stunning venue, with delicious breakfast and breathtaking views - thanks Joondalup Resort.

Enjoyed the recent City of Joondalup End of Year Business Sundowner, which they held in partnership with Joondalup Business Association and Chamber of Commerce and Industry WA. Always love the economic update from CCIWA - sooo interesting - presented this year by Senior Economist, Sam Collins who did a brilliant job! And what a nice surprise to meet up again with the Hon Jackie Jarvis MLC - a former BPW Australia colleague & friend who was in the Margaret River Club. Jackie is WA’s Minister for Small Business; Agriculture & Food; Forestry. Great to hear a bit more of Jackie’s story too. (And then a few of us went on to RISQ Small Bar for a nightcap).

🌱🌤️We were out and about early this morning, and visited a couple of clients at the Perth Garden & Outdoor Living Festival - including long term, Wongan-based client Dsatco Mulch! Fabulous to see they have built such a strong following of dedicated gardeners for their range - they use the by-products from broad acre farming, and turn it into high quality garden products.♻️💜🧡

Being in small business can sometimes feel a bit lonely. That’s why we’ve been members of the Joondalup Business Association pretty much from the start. It’s fun to catch up with clients, business associates, and friends at events a couple of times a month. Last week we were at the National Anzac Centre which is set within the Albany Heritage Park. It was a thought provoking and solemn place - an incredible tribute to our service men & women, many who made the ultimate sacrifice. Found this beautiful plaque in the Heritage Rose Garden:

Pause and Reflect

This memorial garden is dedicated to the strength and courage of Women in Wartime.
The women who served,
The women who nursed,
And the women who remained at home and waited.
They bore the long and terrible years of uncertainty and grief.
They took up the baton passed by their men away at war and shouldered the load,
Both in the work place and at home.
They then cared for the damaged minds and bodies of those who returned.
In this peaceful place take a moment to reflect on the sacrifices of the heroes
Of the other side of war,
The Women of War.
Pause and Reflect in Peace.
