Hub compatibility: The kLite microCharger and the QUBE rear light is designed for standard dynamo hubs (≈1V per km/h output — the hubs we've tested and validated). It is not currently compatible with high-output hubs such as the SON 29S, which produce roughly double the voltage at the same speed. On these hubs the charger's input-protection stage can overheat during fast riding with no device connected. A high-voltage-compatible version is in development.

The SON 29S outputs ~2V DC per km/h versus ~1V/km/h for the hubs the microCharger was designed around. With no load connected, its open-circuit voltage crosses our 80V input stage at roughly 37–40 km/h — an everyday descent speed — which overheats the overvoltage clamp. Standard ~1V/km/h hubs only reach that point near 75 km/h, well outside normal riding, so they stay within spec.
