✈️ A Blackhawk Helicopter from Orange, NSW made a tech stop and overnight stay at Mount Isa Airport a few weeks ago, on its way to Indonesia to assist with firefighting for four months.

Our new ARMO, Michael, had a great time seeing it up close! 🚁

Did you know the Mount Isa Rodeo has been going since 1959? What began as a small local event has grown into Australia's biggest rodeo, now drawing crowds of over 25,000 each year!

THE MOUNT ISA RODEO KICKS OFF THIS FRIDAY! 🤠

Only a few days left until Buchanan Park comes alive for the long weekend – one of Outback Queensland's biggest events! If you haven't locked in your tickets yet, now's the time. Here's what's on (Cnr George & Sutton Street):

📅 FRIDAY, 7 AUGUST – Gates open 8am
Kick things off with a full day of rodeo action. Market and food stalls, and sideshow alley fun. Chill out in the Back Paddock, grab a cold one at the Cattleman's Bar, then dance the night away with live entertainment on the Main Stage.

📅 SATURDAY, 8 AUGUST – Gates open 8am
More non-stop arena action, markets, food and sideshow alley. Kick back at the Back Paddock and enjoy local entertainment throughout the day. As the sun goes down, live music takes over the Crocketts Main Stage.

📅 SUNDAY, 9 AUGUST – Championship Sunday!
Gates open 8am for the big one – a performance from William Barton, followed by the Indigenous Rodeo Championships (8am–11.30am) and the Open Finals (11.30am–5pm), all playing out in the famous red dirt of the Kalkadoon Arena. Gates close 6pm.

A few weeks back, we hosted a two-day training program for the Queensland State Emergency Service - Western Area.

14 dedicated SES volunteers and trainers took part in the core training course, Working Safely at Heights, which included setting up travel restraint systems, overcoming fears of working at heights, and applying their skills in real-world scenarios. This vital training ensures members are fully prepared to respond to storm season emergencies and provide crucial support for both local and state-wide operations.

Great work to all involved. We're proud to partner with the SES to facilitate this important training, supporting the volunteers and emergency services personnel who play a critical role in keeping our communities safe.
