This week’s FAQ: Is this the newest (and cutest!) member of the Rural Fibre Co team?

Answer: Sadly no, but Joey Junior gave it a really good crack - including checking out some high vis for size - before being handed over to a local wildlife carer.

Everything from curious cows to lazy lizards: our field team has all the fun.😉

This week’s FAQ: we’ve discovered the Wifi is a bit dodgy in our back room – how can we improve it? 📶📶📶

This week’s answer:

Whilst the router we supply will provide decent Wifi coverage for most homes, sometimes it may not cover 100% of the building.

Our favourite cause of a dead zone is large fish tanks 🐠, but of course there are many reasons why Wifi might be a bit weak in one part of the house, including distance from the router. Wifi works differently in different environments - even to the point of working differently in parts of the same room.

The RFC home install team does their best to place the router in a central position that will work for the whole house.

But if you find after a few days that you have some dead zones you can’t fix (because who wants to move their fish tank, right?), you may want to consider getting a Wifi extender beacon or two.

These are easy to order at a small cost from the friendly team at Splice Internet, who will even come out to install, and they should sort out any fishy areas.

Last call, Hazelwood North! Today is the final day to claim your $0 install with Splice. After today, it's back to $399.

If you've been sitting on the fence, now's the right time to switch. Sign up by 11:59pm tonight, and you'll lock in your installation for $0 instead of $399 (and let's be honest, $0 wins every single time). Don't forget: your actual install will happen after today once our installers are a bit less flat chat.

Don't miss out! Head over to https://signup.splice.au and grab your spot before the clock runs out.

All good things must come to an end - including the $0 install offer by our friends over at Splice Internet for connection to our network at Hazelwood North.😢

This offer finishes this coming Monday 1 June, so if you'd like a $0 install rather than a $399 install (and let's face it, who wouldn't?) make sure you sign up before the deadline!

Note the offer is valid for anyone who has signed up by 1 June - your install will happen after this date as our installers are going like cut cats at the moment. 😻😻😻

This week’s FAQ: Can I keep my email address if I change to a Splice Internet plan, or do I have to change it?

Answer: It depends!

If you have an email address with a generic (and often free) provider – like Gmail or Outlook - you don’t need to change anything.

If you have an email address tied to your current internet provider (eg Telstra, Bigpond or Optus) there are two possibilities – you may be able to keep that email (usually for a small fee), OR you may need to switch over to a different email address.

Splice does not offer email addresses; we strongly recommend people find a free, generic provider.

We know switching over sounds difficult, but it does have some advantages:

✅ A generic email address gives you more freedom in the future - it doesn’t matter if you ever change internet providers again.

✅ If you can keep your existing email for a period, you can redirect your mail to your new free address, and take about 6-12 months to gradually advise people of your new email address. You don’t have to do it all in one hit.

✅ You can also use this as a period to finally cull all those emails and subscriptions that you don’t want!

For some independent advice, we reckon this Regional Tech Hub’s article is excellent.

Setting up a new email account is very easy and shouldn’t cost you anything. Find out the benefits of a free, generic email address.

This week's very popular FAQ: If I've ordered a service but my install is booked after the 1 June deadline, do I still get the $0 install discount?

This week's very popular answer: Yes, yes you do!

More info:

It seems lots of you are aware that our $0 install promotion is coming to an end on 1 June, and we're getting lots of questions about it.

The biggest one is - will I still get the discount if my install is booked after 1 June?

As long as you have placed your order with our retail partner Splice Internet by 1 June, you will still get the promo discount. It doesn't matter what date your install is booked for.

In fact, our install team is so busy at the moment that our only available install slots are now after 1 June - but again, that doesn't matter as long as you have ordered by 1 June.

For orders placed after 1 June, the install price reverts back to our normal cost of $399.

To order your service visit splice.au or call them on 1800 775 423.

Thanks for such a great review Rosemary! We hope this sums up everything about the Rural Fibre Co/Splice Internet experience - locals doing their best for other locals.

If you live in our Hazelwood North rollout area, don't forget that our $0 install promotion closes on 1 June, so if you're thinking about ordering our service, now is the time to do it. Even if our service is not yet live on your street, you can place an order. After 1 June, home installs will revert to their usual cost of $399.
