Well we’re pretty stoked to say that we’re now an award-winning telco!

And even happier that our first award is in our home territory of Gippsland.

Last Friday night, Rural Fibre Co won the Trades/Transport/Technical Services category in the Gippsland Business Awards, up against some significantly high-quality candidates from across the region.

The judges highlighted our “sophisticated planning, innovative use of technology, rapid creation of local employment and values-led commitment to accessibility, with the potential to transform connectivity across Gippsland and beyond.”

Gosh.

But as our Installations Team Leader Mitchell Stone told the crowd when he accepted the award, there are some very, very smart businesses across the region.
Which means Gippsland is the winner – and that’s what matters.

Traralgon West, you've got more time for your free install!

Today we're announcing the 90 Mile Loop.

A 728 kilometre carrier-grade fibre ring from Melbourne's edge to the Latrobe Valley and onto Bairnsdale, with two physically separate paths to every town, campus and substation on it.

Gippsland already has the energy infrastructure, the industrial land, the water and the people. The missing link for investment in our region is fibre. So, we're building it.

The route is designed and costed. Now we're seeking the partners who want to be part of it. Dark fibre, managed capacity, a diverse path, or anchoring a whole segment. If you're seeking capacity, we want to hear from you.

Answer: No, no you don’t miss out!

Whether it’s a granny flat, a tiny home, some other kind of second dwelling or some weird situation where your address is not in our system, you can ask us to add you – just give us a call to discuss your situation.

It seems lots of you are aware that our $0 install promotion is coming to an end on 31 August, and we're getting lots of questions about it.

The biggest one is - will I still get the discount if my install is booked after 31 August?

As long as you have placed your order with our retail partners Splice Internet by 31 August, you will still get the promo discount. It doesn't matter what date your install is booked for.

For orders placed after 31 August, the install price reverts back to our normal cost of $399.

Are we going to wreck your lawn? Your garden? Your bitumen driveway? Your walls?

For anyone who loves their home and surrounds, these are really valid questions.

And the simple answer is no, we’re not.

Our home installation teams – indoors and outdoors - take incredible pride in leaving things in the best possible way, and will talk you through everything that we can do to leave your property looking great.🌹🌺💐

Yes, you’ll know we’ve laid fibre underground until things settle back down. Sometimes we have to wait a while for wet weather or boggy ground to improve before we can finish off.

But we do our absolute best to reinstate your property – both because we’re local, and also because we want to do the right thing.

Question: Can I connect a second building on my block without paying for a second service?

Answer: A cautious yes - there are options but they depend on the site.

Close buildings might just need a well-placed range extender (beacon), available from Splice from $80.

If your second building is beyond that range, we can assess if it is suitable to connect via an external data cable at an additional cost, or advise of other options.

Question: Does it matter how far back my house is from the road to qualify for the free installation promotion running at the moment for Traralgon West?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: Still no.
