Big shout out to The Farmers Wife Moruya 👏

It’s been great working behind the scenes with the team as they get ready for a fresh new chapter.

The Farmers Wife has expanded their café and is relaunching tomorrow, with a bigger space and an upgraded network and IT setup to support the next stage of the business.

It’s always great to see local businesses investing, growing and creating something special right here in our community.

If you haven’t been in for a while, tomorrow is a great excuse to check out the new look and support a local business.

Congratulations to the whole team. We can’t wait to see the new space in action!

Technology is changing faster than ever, and for many older Australians, it can mean losing a sense of independence.

From online banking and government services to smartphones, apps and everyday technology, keeping up can be overwhelming.

If you, or someone you know, is struggling with technology, there are digital mentoring programs available that can help.

Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Technology should make life easier, not harder.

📱 Not every app is as “free” as it looks.

We download an app because it does something useful.

But sometimes the real business model isn’t the app itself.

It might be collecting data.
Tracking how you use it.
Building a profile about your interests.
Pushing you towards purchases.
Or keeping you engaged for as long as possible.

That doesn’t automatically mean an app is dangerous.

But it does mean we should ask:

👉 What does this app actually need access to?
👉 Why does a calculator need my location?
👉 Why does a game need access to my contacts?
👉 Do I really need to give this app access to my photos?
👉 What information am I giving away for a “free” service?

Before installing an app, take 30 seconds to check its permissions.

And every few months, go through the apps already on your phone and remove the ones you no longer use.

Technology should make life easier.

Just make sure you know what you’re giving it in return.

This morning was one of those mornings that reminds you why community matters.

I had the opportunity to meet the amazing people behind Repair Cafe Eurobodalla and see the work they are doing firsthand.

And Tricia from the The Tec Exec deserves a massive shoutout.

The energy, the passion and the amount of work Trish puts into bringing people together is seriously impressive. You can see how much she cares about making a difference.

Repair Café Moruya is exactly the kind of community initiative I love seeing.

People sharing skills.
People helping people.
People fixing things instead of throwing them away.
And most importantly, people connecting.

I’m genuinely excited to be volunteering my time and skills to help wherever I can.

This is what community is about.

Show up. Give back. Share what you know.

Big things happen when good people get together.

Ever talked about something and then suddenly started seeing it in your feed?

It can feel like your phone is listening, but often it’s simply learning from your behaviour.

What you search, watch, click and interact with all helps platforms understand what you’re interested in.

The more you use them, the better they get at predicting what you’ll want to see next.

Pretty clever technology… and sometimes a little spooky! 😄
