What business owners say and what brand strategists hear can be two very different things.

When a business says its marketing isn't working, the instinct is often to do more. More content, more advertising, more visibility.

But sometimes, the real problem sits beneath the surface.

That's where brand strategy comes in. It's about asking better questions, challenging assumptions and understanding what's actually holding your brand back before investing in the next solution.

And we believe that kind of strategic thinking should be more accessible.

We've taken the strategic questions, frameworks and insights behind nearly two decades of brand strategy work and built them into our Brand Builder Map and Brand Oracle.

📖 Brand Builder Map: A guided workbook that takes you through our Eight Brand Marks™ methodology, helping you explore and define the foundations of your brand.

💬 Brand Oracle: Your AI-powered strategic guide, designed to challenge your thinking, ask the questions you might not think to ask and help you turn your insights into a clearer brand strategy.

Build your brand strategy for just $60 + GST.

This includes the Brand Builder Map and one month of Brand Oracle access, with no ongoing commitment required. Subscription options are available if you'd like to continue exploring.

Good work starts with good relationships.

One of our favourite parts of what we do is getting to know the people behind the businesses we work with. Understanding their stories, sharing ideas, challenging each other's thinking and seeing those ideas come to life.

Joanna Photography is a perfect example of that. We've had the pleasure of working with Jo on her brand, and more recently, the tables turned when we stepped in front of her camera for our own branding shoot.

Jo embraced our creative direction, brought her own ideas and perspective to the shoot, and captured our team in a way that felt genuinely us.

There's something pretty special about being able to support each other's businesses, collaborate creatively and share a few laughs along the way.

Thanks for being such a wonderful part of our Oraco community, Jo! 🖤

Business owners are often sitting on their most interesting stories without realising it.

They’ll tell us about the unusual way their business started, a decision they refused to compromise on or something customers consistently thank them for.

Then they’ll say their point of difference is “quality and customer service”.

And we have to ask: why did you leave out all the interesting stuff?

It’s understandable. When you’re close to your business, the things that make it special can start to feel ordinary.

Part of our job is to notice what the people inside the business no longer see.

Because distinction isn’t always something you need to invent.

Sometimes it’s something you need to recognise.

That’s exactly why we developed the Eight Brand Marks™.

A framework built to help businesses look beyond the obvious, explore the stories, beliefs and perspectives that shape who they are, and uncover what makes them distinctive.

Curious about what makes your brand unmistakably you?

Content is easy to make, but content that actually feels like your brand is a little harder.

It's why we don't think content should begin with, “What should we post this week?”

It should begin much further back.

What do we want to be known for? What does our audience actually care about? What stories are worth telling? And how can we tell them in a way that could only really come from us?

Because when those things are clear, content stops being a constant search for something to say. You have a much stronger foundation to keep coming back to.

And that's exactly why we created the Brand Builder Map and Brand Oracle.

Built on our Eight Brand Marks™ methodolgy, the Brand Builder Map and Oracle helps you explore the foundations of your brand, uncover what makes you distinctive and develop the clarity to guide everything that comes next, including your content.

Because knowing what to say starts with understanding who you are, what you stand for and why people should care.

Here's Kannika behind the scenes capturing some of the content that brings those ideas to life.

Strategy gives you the story and content gives you somewhere to tell it.

Imagine what you could build with real brand clarity.

What if you could articulate exactly what makes your brand worth choosing? Know what you stand for, who you’re here for, where you’re going and what makes your perspective different?

Imagine making decisions with confidence. Communicating your value clearly. Creating work that feels unmistakably yours. Building a brand that people recognise, connect with and remember.

For nearly two decades, we’ve helped businesses explore these questions and turn their answers into meaningful brand strategies.

Now, we’ve brought that thinking together into the Eight Brand Marks™, a framework designed to uncover what makes every brand distinctive.

And we’ve created a new way for you to explore it yourself.

Something new is coming…

Posting isn’t dead. Boring content is. 👀

You can still promote your business, your services and what you do, but the way you package it matters.

Create content people actually want to stop, watch and engage with first. Sell second.

Because good marketing shouldn’t always feel like marketing.

Rebranding doesn’t mean erasing everything that came before.

If you’ve been in business for five, ten or twenty years, you’ve already built recognition, reputation, relationships and stories that have value.

The interesting part is working out what still belongs.

What should stay? What has the business outgrown? What needs to evolve? And what would you be crazy to leave behind?

A rebrand should make room for where you’re going, while still feeling unmistakably yours.

Think you might have outgrown your brand? Take another look.

What does the Mornington Peninsula look like as a laundry brand?

I’ve always been fascinated by symbolism 🌀

By how a single mark, image, word or gesture can represent something far bigger than itself. Across cultures and civilisations, we’ve used symbols to communicate identity, beliefs, stories, belonging and ideas that sometimes go far beyond what words can explain.

And somewhere along the way, I realised that’s also how I’d started to see brands.

A logo can become a symbol of what a business stands for. A colour can carry years of recognition. A phrase can represent an entire belief. A story can become shorthand for where a business came from and why it exists. Iconography can represent services, philosophies, products or ideas.

What we see on the surface carries meaning because of everything sitting behind it.

Over nearly two decades of working in branding, I also began noticing the same themes appearing again and again in the businesses people really remembered.

Their past, beliefs, future, people, identity, expression, impact and longevity.

Eventually, I gave each of those ideas a symbolic form.

They became Oraco’s Eight Brand Marks, and today they give us a way to look at a business from eight different perspectives and uncover the stories, ideas and meaning that make it distinctly its own.

The strongest brands aren’t built by adding meaning that was never there. More often, the clues already exist.

You just need to know where to look.

One year of Two Bays Laundry Organic Dry Cleaning 🤎

A year ago, Two Bays Laundry opened its doors with a brand we’d had the pleasure of helping Liz and Kirill bring to life from the very beginning.

From strategy through to the visual identity, we wanted to create a brand that felt fresh, organic and full of personality, but most importantly, one that felt like it belonged here on the Mornington Peninsula.

That sense of place became part of the identity itself. The curves within the logo draw on the movement of water and our coastline, while the stylised ‘B’ represents the two bays that gave the business its name, Western Port and Port Phillip. The coastal palette, natural textures and broader identity carried that story through the space (shout out to Saint Design by Sharna Seymour), signage, uniforms, vehicles and everything in between.

It’s always pretty special seeing a brand move from ideas on a page into a real business, but even more so watching it become part of the local community.

A huge congratulations to Liz, Kirill and the whole Two Bays Laundry team on your first birthday. It’s been such a pleasure working alongside you from those early ideas through to launch and everything that has followed.

Happy first birthday! Here’s to everything still to come 🥂
