In 2025, there were 65,361 phishing reports made to Australia’s National Anti-Scam Centre, and email was the most used contact method.

The subject line of a phishing email is designed to trigger urgency, panic, fear or curiosity. The goal is to get you to click and act fast.

Here are some commonly used phrases and words in phishing email subjects:
📧 “Action Required” or “Urgent Account Update”
📧 “Password Expires Today”
📧 “Invoice Overdue” or “Payment Failed”
📧 “Unusual Sign-In Detected”
📧 “Delivery Issue” or “Package Held”
📧 “Shared Document” or “Check This Out”
📧 “Last Notice” or “Final Reminder”

If you ever receive an email that seems suspicious, do not delete it and do not click anything.
Instead, report it to your IT support team so it can be investigated and blocked for others.

Did you know that Tim Berners Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web, has said he regrets adding double slash( // ) to website addresses?

He later explained that the double slashes were unnecessary and ended up being an avoidable complexity for everyone who uses the web.

Are password managers necessary for businesses? We think so!

Businesses log into many online accounts every day. Remembering strong, unique passwords for all of them simply is not realistic.

There is where a password manager, such as Bitwarden comes in.
🔐 A password manager securely stores your passwords in an encrypted vault.
🔐 It generates strong, unique passwords for every account
🔐 Staff no longer need to reuse passwords or write them down
🔐Access can be managed and removed when roles change

Weak or reused passwords remain one of the most common ways attackers gain access to business systems. A password manager is one of the simplest ways to reduce that risk.

If your team is still sharing passwords via email, spreadsheets, or memory, it may be time to rethink how credentials are being managed.

Contact the team at Concord IT team today to discover more about Bitwarden.

🤖⚠️Deepfake technology is improving fast so, knowing what to look for can help prevent fraud, impersonation, and social engineering attacks.

Here are some common deepfake giveaways:
1. Teeth that appear overly glossy, unnaturally aligned, or subtly morphed
2. Eye flickering or blinking that looks irregular or unnatural
3. Lip movements that do not sync cleanly with speech
4. Clothing that warps, glitches, or shifts unexpectedly
5. Filter like smoothness on the face that looks artificial
6. Unnatural pauses or odd timing in speech
7. Blurry or distorted edges around the face or head

These signs are often subtle on their own, but when several appear together, it is worth slowing down and verifying before trusting what you see or hear.

Awareness remains one of the strongest defences against AI driven threats.

World backup day is a reminder that data loss is not a matter of if, but when.
If you haven’t checked your backups recently, today is the perfect prompt.

Here are some simple backup best practices:
• Automate backups so they happen even if you’re busy
• Test backup restoration regularly; a backup is pointless if you can’t restore it

How about trying to recover a file or email today?
