Hi,
When I started this business almost 20 years ago, I wanted to have a particular focus on sustainability and sustainable solutions. I had all sorts of grand ideas for setting up solar farms, centres of excellence, converting vehicles to electric power and even producing my own bio-diesel (that one didn’t last for long, although I did figure out the theory for doing it).
Unfortunately (or probably fortunately, for my families sake) I somehow managed to avoid getting bogged down in these ideas, however, they were (and still are) never far from my mind.
Over the last couple of years, I’ve become more and more despondent with our governments inaction on climate change, the environment and sustainability in general. So much so that I started a website earlier in the year with the intention of scaffolding individuals and businesses into converting their homes and workplaces into more sustainable places.
If you’re interested, the site is www.fridayclimatework.org however, my thinking and actions have moved on and I’ve been participating in various Facebook and other groups instead. If you are interested, they are:
• Australian Parents for Climate Action Group https://www.facebook.com/groups/1563257827306784/ and https://www.ap4ca.org
• Extinction Rebellion ACT https://www.facebook.com/groups/XRACT/
• Extinction Rebellion Australia https://ausrebellion.earth/ and https://www.facebook.com/XRAustralia/
• Extinction Rebellion https://rebellion.earth/
• My Efficient Electric Home https://www.facebook.com/groups/MyEfficientElectricHome/
I feel kind of stupid saying this, but Blueblood Solutions is declaring a “Climate Emergency”. The science indicates humankind has a limited chance to avoid catastrophic climate change and I can’t sit around hoping it gets sorted by the government.
We are supporting our staff that are interested in participating in the Global Climate Strike on Friday 20 September 2019.
On the 20th, we won’t be abandoning our clients completely – we will maintain a skeleton crew to monitor voicemails and system alerts, however we will not be planning any site visits or non-urgent support for that day. Accordingly, we would appreciate you submitting any routine requests earlier that week so they can be actioned before Friday or delaying them until Monday the 23rd.
A number of other Australian Businesses will be supporting their staff too.
Blueblood Solutions has joined this group and I am encouraging you to do so too.
For more information, or to sign up, please visit https://www.notbusinessasusual.com.au
Additionally, we will be reviewing our supply chain, banking arrangements and other business operations and seeking ways to minimise our environmental impact. We’ve always tried to recycle properly, reduce energy usage and minimise travel, but we feel it is time to take another look at these areas. More to come on this later!
Hope to see you at the !
Thanks,
Michael Reid

We know the number one reason people won't Strike for Climate is because of work. That's why we're supporting employees to strike on September 20th.
