A scam email does not have to look suspicious anymore.
It can be well written.
It can use the right branding.
It can arrive at exactly the moment you are expecting a delivery, approving a payment or having trouble logging into an account.
And now, it may not stop at email.
At our recent Geelong Cyber Sip event, Paul Barge from Kaseya shared how AI is making cyber scams far more convincing.
Criminals can now create realistic phishing messages in seconds, imitate familiar voices and even produce deepfake video calls that appear completely legitimate.
That changes the way businesses need to think about verification.
Seeing a familiar name in your inbox is not always enough.
Hearing a familiar voice is not always enough.
Even seeing someone on a video call may not be enough when money or sensitive information is involved.
The answer is not to panic or treat every message as a threat.
It is to make sure your people know what to look for, how to verify unusual requests and what to do when something feels wrong.
We have captured the most important lessons from Paul’s presentation in our latest blog.
