Optus 3G Switch Off

Telcos and Customers have been hard at work preparing for the fast-approaching Australian 3G network switch-off.

Telcos have been contacting impacted customers and advising which devices need to be replaced.

It is important that if you are notified that your device is impacted you take action soon as after 1 September 2024 you may no longer be able to call Triple Zero (000) or emergency services.

Please pass the message on to your friends, family and co-workers.

If you are not sure if your device will be impacted, get in touch with your telco.

It is very important that you do not call Triple Zero to test your device. This won’t help you work out if your device is affected and may stop others from accessing life-saving support.

Great news for Gulargambone and Menindee

A partnership between Opticomm and the NSW Government's Regional Digital Connectivity program will mean that over 800 addresses will be eligible to connect to the Opticomm Fibre (FTTP) Internet network by May 2026.

The NSW Government's investment of $5.7 Million will mean a $0 upfront installation cost for lucky residents and will future-proof and improve Internet connectivity.

The project aims to future-proof and enhance internet connectivity, helping reduce the dependence on satellite services and ensure regional NSW is not left behind.

URL Networks is a Retail Service Provider (RSP) on the Opticomm wholesale network.

URL Networks looks forward to being able to offer our great range of Opticomm plans to Gulargambone and Menindee when the network lights up in 2026.

Australia’s mobile network operators are switching off their 3G networks.
The switch-off may mean you cannot call Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.

All Australian mobile providers will switch off their 3G network by September 2024.

This means that if your device doesn't support VoLTE for voice calling you might not be able to make or receive calls or call Triple Zero (000) in an emergency.

If your data device doesn't support 4G (including 700 MHz Band 28) you may not be able to access the Internet.

We are contacting any of our existing customers that might be impacted to recommend upgrading their device immediately.

URL Networks offers a range of 4G voice and data SIM plans powered by the Optus Wholesale Network and a range of 4G mobile broadband hardware.
