Can Raspberry Pi and Arduino Work Together? A Practical Guide to UART, I2C, and SPI Communication

Yes, Raspberry Pi and Arduino can work together, and combining them is an effective way to build embedded systems, robotics projects, IoT devices, industrial monitoring systems, and smart home applications.

Although both platforms can interact with sensors and electronic components, they have different strengths. A Raspberry Pi is a Linux-based single-board computer designed for high-level computing, networking, data processing, and multitasking. An Arduino is a microcontroller-based development platform designed for direct hardware control, sensor acquisition, PWM generation, and timing-sensitive operations.

By connecting Raspberry Pi and Arduino through UART, I2C, or SPI, developers can take advantage of both platforms.

Can STM32 Run AI? How to Build AI on STM32 Microcontrollers?

Can an STM32 microcontroller run artificial intelligence?

The answer is yes. STM32 microcontrollers can run machine-learning and neural-network inference locally at the edge. Depending on the selected STM32 device, the application can range from simple vibration anomaly detection and human-activity recognition to keyword spotting, audio-event detection, image classification, object detection, pose estimation, and other computer-vision tasks.

However, “running AI on STM32” does not normally mean training a large neural network directly on the microcontroller. The usual workflow is:

Collect data → Train the model on a PC/GPU → Quantize and optimize the model → Deploy it to STM32 → Run inference locally

STMicroelectronics now provides a complete embedded-AI ecosystem around STM32. In 2026, the primary desktop deployment tool is STM32Cube AI Studio, which replaced X-CUBE-AI for new development. It can import pretrained neural-network or classical machine-learning models, optimize them, validate them, and generate optimized embedded C implementations.

What Is the Difference Between DDR3, DDR4, and DDR5?

DDR SDRAM (Double Data Rate Synchronous Dynamic Random-Access Memory) is one of the most important types of system memory used in PCs, servers, embedded computers, networking equipment, and industrial systems. Over several generations, DDR memory has evolved from DDR3 to DDR4 and then DDR5, with each generation increasing bandwidth, reducing operating voltage, improving memory density, and introducing architectural changes designed to handle increasingly demanding processors and workloads.

DDR4 is not simply a faster DDR3, and DDR5 is not merely a higher-clocked DDR4. Each generation changes the electrical interface, internal bank architecture, signaling, power-management scheme, training requirements, and module organization. Consequently, DDR3, DDR4, and DDR5 are not electrically or mechanically interchangeable.

How to Use USB-to-UART Converters in Embedded Systems?

USB-to-UART converters are among the most useful interface devices in embedded development. They allow a PC with a USB port to communicate with a microcontroller, FPGA, wireless module, sensor controller, bootloader, or other device that exposes an asynchronous UART interface.

In practice, USB-to-UART bridges are widely used for firmware downloading, bootloader communication, debug consoles, production testing, configuration interfaces, data logging, and upgrading legacy serial products with USB connectivity. Devices such as the Silicon Labs CP2102N-A02-GQFN24, FTDI FT232RNQ-REEL, and Microchip MCP2221A-I/ST integrate the USB protocol handling and UART engine so that the target embedded processor does not need to implement a USB device stack.

This article explains how USB-to-UART conversion works, how to select a suitable converter, how to connect it correctly to a target system, how to handle voltage levels and flow control, how converters can be used for firmware programming, and how to avoid the most common design mistakes.

How Many Types of Registers Are There in Microcontrollers? What Are the Differences?

Registers are among the most fundamental elements of a microcontroller. Whether firmware is performing arithmetic, executing a function call, configuring a GPIO pin, receiving UART data, starting an ADC conversion, or handling an interrupt, registers are involved somewhere in the process.

However, the question “How many types of registers does a microcontroller have?” does not have a single numerical answer.

Different CPU architectures and microcontroller vendors organize registers differently. For example, the STM32F407VGT6 uses an Arm Cortex-M4 core with R0–R12 general-purpose registers plus dedicated stack, link, program-counter, status, and control registers. The ATmega328P has 32 8-bit general-purpose working registers. The PIC16F18855 uses core registers together with banked Special Function Registers, while the MSP430FR2355 organizes its CPU around R0–R15, with R0–R3 assigned special functions.

Automotive Power Management ICs: PMIC, SBC, LDO and DC-DC Converter Comparison

Modern vehicles contain increasingly sophisticated electronic systems, including body controllers, digital cockpits, infotainment systems, advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), battery-management systems, electric power steering, on-board chargers, traction inverters, cameras, radar sensors, gateways, and dozens of distributed electronic control units (ECUs).

Every one of these systems requires stable and reliable power. However, the electrical environment in a vehicle is significantly more demanding than that of most consumer electronics. A nominal 12 V battery supply can experience cold-crank voltage drops, jump-start conditions, load-dump events, electrical transients, reverse-battery conditions, and substantial electromagnetic interference.

ESP32 Module Comparison: WROOM, WROVER, C3, S3, C6 and P4 Explained

Espressif’s ESP32 ecosystem has expanded far beyond the original ESP32 module. Developers can now choose among compact RISC-V devices, dual-core AI-oriented microcontrollers, Wi-Fi 6 and IEEE 802.15.4 devices, and high-performance multimedia processors. Names such as WROOM, WROVER, ESP32-C3, ESP32-S3, ESP32-C6, and ESP32-P4 are therefore frequently compared when selecting hardware for IoT, industrial, smart-home, HMI, audio, camera, and edge-AI applications.

There is, however, an important naming distinction. WROOM and WROVER are module families or form factors, whereas C3, S3, C6, and P4 identify ESP32 SoC generations. For example, ESP32-S3-WROOM-1-N16R8 is a WROOM module built around an ESP32-S3 SoC. Espressif explains that WROVER was historically used for ESP32 modules with substantial PSRAM, while newer WROOM modules can themselves include PSRAM.

STM32CubeMX Tutorial: Configure GPIO, Clock, UART, ADC and Timers Step by Step

STM32CubeMX is one of the most important configuration tools in the STM32 development ecosystem. It provides a graphical environment for selecting an STM32 microcontroller, assigning pins, configuring peripheral clocks, enabling communication interfaces, setting ADC channels, configuring timers, and generating initialization code.

Instead of manually writing every RCC, GPIO, UART, ADC, and timer register configuration from scratch, developers can describe the hardware configuration in STM32CubeMX and generate HAL- or LL-based initialization code.

However, STM32CubeMX does not eliminate the need to understand STM32 hardware. A reliable design still requires knowledge of clock trees, GPIO alternate functions, ADC sampling behavior, UART baud-rate generation, timer clocks, interrupts, DMA, and peripheral dependencies.
