Last week's major Telstra outage affected millions of Australians.
We were curious to see what happened across the CoreGPS fleet, so we analysed the mobile network our GPS trackers were connected to at the end of each day.
📊 The results were interesting.
On 8 July, the percentage of our devices connected to Telstra dropped significantly, while connections across Optus and Vodafone increased. By the following days, the distribution began returning to normal.
This is one of the reasons we chose a multi-network SIM platform.
Rather than being locked to a single carrier, CoreGPS devices will roam across all Australian mobile providers, Telstra, Optus and Vodafone, helping maximise the chance of maintaining connectivity when local coverage changes or one network experiences issues.
No network can guarantee 100% uptime, but giving your tracker access to multiple Australian networks provides an important layer of resilience.
It's not just about where your vehicle is today, it's about giving it the best chance to stay connected when it matters most.
