Want smart security alerts without the hassle of drawing complex boundary rules? 🤖🏠
If you are running Dahua AI cameras, Smart Motion Detection (SMD) is your new best friend. Unlike old-school motion sensors that trigger an alarm every time a bush moves or a bug flies past, SMD uses deep-learning algorithms to detect only actual humans and vehicles.
Best of all? It's usually turned on out of the box, but if you need to re-enable or tweak it, you can do it with just a single click:
🛠️ Step-by-Step Configuration Guide:
1. Log In: Fire up your monitor setup, right-click, and log into your camera or NVR using your username and password.
2. Navigate to AI Settings: Head over to the AI tab on your main interface screen.
3. Open the SMD Menu: Select Parameters on the left menu, then click on SMD.
4. Enable the Switch: Look at the main toggle. If the button is grey, click to Enable it (it will turn blue).
5. Set Your Target & Sensitivity: Under Effective Target, tick Human (which automatically includes non-motorized vehicles like bikes) or Motor Vehicle depending on what you want to monitor. Adjust your Sensitivity level (Low, Middle, or High) to control how easily the threshold triggers.
6. Save Changes: Don't just exit! Make sure to click Apply at the bottom of the screen to lock in your settings.
Now your system is fine-tuned to block out environmental changes while keeping a strict eye on real property threats! 🛡️
Stuck on your AI settings? Save yourself the headache and reach out to our local in-house support team. Call us Mon-Fri at 03 9079 5566!

Tired of false alarm notifications every time a tree moves or the sun changes? 🍃☀️❌
If your security cameras support it, it is time to switch from standard motion detection to the IVS Tripwire function. This advanced video analytics tool allows you to physically draw a boundary line across a driveway, gate, or doorway, triggering alerts only when a real target crosses it.
Here is a quick step-by-step config guide from our engineering team:
🛠️ Step 1: Activate the Smart Plan
Go to the NVR Main Menu -> AI -> Parameters -> Smart Plan. Select the target camera channel using the dropdown box, ensure the bulb icon highlights, and hit Apply.
📐 Step 2: Draw Your Tripwire
Go to IVS (right under Smart Plan). Select your channel, click Add in the lower right, and a new rule will appear. Tap the Pencil Icon to go full-screen. Left-click inside the video frame to start drawing your line, change directions with a left-click, and right-click to finish. You can set the direction to Both, A to B, or B to A. Click OK.
🔔 Step 3: Setup Alarms & Schedules
Click the Trigger setting to adjust conditions. You can edit the timesheet schedule (e.g., keeping it off during business hours for an office, but running 24/7 for a warehouse or residential home). Choose how you want to receive alerts, like emails or instant app push notifications.
💾 Step 4: Smart Storage Saving (Optional)
Want to save heaps of NVR hard drive space? Go to Storage -> Schedule -> Record, pick your camera, and make sure the Intelligent box is enabled/ticked for your active time slots. This ensures the NVR only saves footage when your tripwire line is actually breached!
Hit Apply to save everything, and check your Live View—your virtual tripwire line should be visible on the screen!
Stuck on a configuration rule? Our in-house tech support team can walk you through it over the phone! Call us Mon-Fri on 03 9079 5566.

Stuck on an installation or trying to configure a tricky camera setting on-site? 🛠️🔒
At Total Security Equipment, we know that hitting a technical roadblock can slow your day down. Our expert tech support team has compiled a quick cheat sheet for the most common technical questions we get about Dahua and Bosch configurations:
🌐 1. Getting the NVR Online: If your recorder won't connect, head to the main menu -> Network -> TCP/IP, click the edit pencil icon, enable DHCP, and apply. Don't forget to head to the P2P menu to enable it before doing a quick system reboot!
📱 2. Mobile App Pairing: Download the DMSS app, tap the '+' sign, and select 'SN/Scan'. Scan your NVR's QR code or type it manually. Pro Tip: If pairing an intercom, make sure to select VTO as the device type; select NVR for IP recorders, or DVR/XVR for analogue rigs.
🚧 3. Tripwires & Smart Rules (IVS): To set up smart tripwire tracking, go to the AI menu -> Parameters -> Smart Plan to activate the channel. Then head over to IVS parameters, add your rule, and use the pencil icon to physically draw your virtual boundary line.
🔒 4. Locked Account Error? If you see an "Account Locked" error pop up on a camera or recorder, the absolute quickest fix is to power-cycle or reboot the hardware to clear the safety lockout.
💻 5. Fixing Config Error 18: This happens when an older NVR tries to initialize a brand-new camera with a different build date. Connect your laptop to a PoE switch with the camera, launch Dahua's Configtool, select the device, click Initialize, and set a password matching your NVR.
Remember, the Dahua Toolbox app contains all the vital diagnostic tools you need on your laptop, including SmartPSS for monitoring and VDPconfig for video intercoms.
Got a more complex issue? Our local, dedicated technical support team is available Monday to Friday (8:30 AM – 5:00 PM AEST) to walk you through it. Just call 03 9079 5566! Read the full guide here:

Need to review your security footage or download a specific clip to your phone or USB? 📹💾
Modern NVRs pack incredible AI features like Smart Motion Detection and human filtering, making it easier than ever to track down an incident. However, if you are unsure how to actually navigate the menus, here is a quick, foolproof guide from the team at Total Security Equipment:
⏮️ How to Playback Footage:
1. Log In: Right-click the screen to access the Main Menu and log in with your password. (Be careful—too many wrong attempts will lock you out! If you are stuck, give our service team a call).
2. Search: Click on the Search function in the top-left corner.
3. Select Date & Camera: Use the calendar on the right to pick your date (look for the tiny dot indicating recorded data) and tick the specific cameras you want to view.
4. Filter: Look at the timeline bar at the bottom. You can filter by All, General, Alarm, Motion, or Intelligence to instantly skip straight to the action!
✂️ How to Backup and Save a Clip:
1. Plug an external USB flash drive directly into the NVR.
2. Use the Scissor Icon tool at the bottom right. Mark your start time, move the timeline bar, and click the scissors again to lock in your end time.
3. Click Save, make sure to change the video format box to MP4 (so it plays perfectly on any phone or computer), and hit Backup.
4. Select your USB drive location, click Start, and wait for the loading bar to hit 100%!
