💙 This one's for the care workers.

We talk a lot about data quality in care. But how often do we ask - what does the person entering that data actually get back from it?

In this clip from the Business of Care podcast, Lahn Straney, Chief Scientific Officer at Evaran, makes a point that doesn't get heard nearly enough.

Not all AI is the same and in aged care, the difference really matters.

There's a growing habit in SaaS (Software as a Service) of pointing a large language model at any problem and calling it "AI-enabled." But when decisions affect residents, risk and budgets, you need answers that are explainable, consistent and don't rack up unpredictable costs.

Chief Scientific Officer, Lahn Straney, breaks down where generative AI genuinely helps, where statistical models do the heavier lifting and why getting the foundations right matters more than the buzzword.

Not all AI is the same. We break down the difference between large language models and statistical models - and why using the right approach matters in aged care

What does "quality care" really mean? 🤔

Care recipients want to see better outcomes. Providers focus on following best practices. Both are right, but neither tells the whole story.

In his new article, Evaran and MOA’s Chief Scientific Officer, Associate Professor Lahn Straney, unpacks the four pillars that together define quality in social care:

✅ Process - the practices and protocols that guide care

✅ Outcome - the real results experienced by recipients

✅ Experience - how care feels to those receiving it

✅ Access - whether people can get the care they need, when they need it

He also explores why the recent decline in allied health access is a growing concern, and why one-size-fits-all best practices may not serve everyone equally well.

He used to walk 7km home after class… just to learn about computers.

No laptop at home.

No shortcuts.

Just curiosity.

Fast forward to today…

Artem Garans'kyy is helping build the systems behind Carelinelive Australia.

The part you don’t see.

But deal with every single day.

Because when systems don’t work properly, you feel it.

More admin.
More fixing.
More “why is this like this?”

And less time for what actually matters.

That’s what Artem is focused on changing.

✔️ Making things simpler

✔️ More reliable

✔️ Less frustrating

Because aged care is already complex enough and your systems shouldn’t make it harder.

If you’ve ever felt like your software slows you down, this one will hit home.
