Following the temporary closure of the Bolinda Road Resource Recovery Centre on Sunday 6 September due to a police incident, additional Hume Clean Days will be running this weekend.

⏰ 8am – 4pm
📅 Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 September 2026
📍 Bolinda Road Resource Recovery Centre, 71 Bolinda Road, Campbellfield
📍 Sunbury Resource Recovery Centre, 515 Riddell Road, Sunbury

Take advantage of Hume Clean Days to clear out household waste and drop off selected items free of charge:
✅ mattresses
✅ couches
✅ tyres
✅ garden clippings.

Council has received formal notice that members of the Australian Services Union (ASU) will take part in protected industrial action from Wednesday 9 September to Friday 11 September. As a result, garbage bin (red-lid) collections scheduled for these days may be affected.

If your bin is normally collected on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday:
🗑️ Put your bin out as usual this week.
👉 If it is not collected, please leave it out. You do not need to report it.
🚛 Catch-up collections will take place and will be completed by Sunday 13 September.

♻️ Resource Recovery Centre Update ♻️

Unfortunately, the Bolinda Road Resource Recovery Centre is temporarily closed today.

We apologise for the inconvenience and thank residents for their patience and understanding.

The Sunbury Resource Recovery Centre remains open and available for residents to use during this time.

We understand many residents may have planned clean-up activities as part of Hume Clean Day or ahead of Father's Day.

Council is currently exploring options to provide an additional opportunity for residents affected by the closure and will share further information when available.

After years of advocacy from Hume City Council and our community, we welcome the Victorian Labor Party’s $494 million commitment to duplicate Somerton Road between Roxburgh Park Drive and Fleetwood Drive 🙌

This critical link carries around 27,000 vehicles every day, and residents have told us loud and clear that congestion, safety and travel times need to improve.

Mayor Cr Carly Moore, Cr John Haddad and Cr Sam Misho explain why Council has fought so hard for this upgrade and call on the Liberal and National Coalition to match this commitment.

Our community deserves certainty that, regardless of the election outcome, this critical road upgrade will be delivered.

We’ve kept Somerton Road on the agenda, and we’ll keep advocating until the job is done 💪

The new Willowbrook Sports Pavilion has hit another major construction milestone 🏗️

After being built off-site over a number of months, the first floor and ground floor modules have been craned in and pieced together at Willowbrook Recreation Reserve.

This means the all new social room, kitchen, player change rooms and umpire rooms are now coming together, among other upgraded amenities.

Once complete, the upgraded facilities will service the Westmeadows Football Club, Westmeadows Cricket Club and Willowbrook Darts Club.

Mayor Carly Moore and Cr. Naim Kurt - Hume City Council joined construction partners and local clubs to celebrate the project update, which is set to be completed in early 2027.

♻️ Hume City Council and our community don't need another bin.

In May 2025, Hume City Council became the first Victorian council to oppose a separate glass-only kerbside bin, and we've continued to advocate for practical recycling solutions that work for residents.

Instead of introducing a costly fourth bin, we are asking the Victorian Government to focus on expanding the Container Deposit Scheme to accept more glass items, including w**e and spirit bottles.

It's a smarter, more efficient solution that improves recycling without adding pressure to household budgets.

A separate glass-only bin would mean:
💰 higher costs
🚛 more traffic and trucks
🌏 more emissions.

We know there are better ways to improve recycling than adding another bin to every household.

🐦‍⬛ The risk of H5 bird flu in pets is extremely low, but it's still important to take simple steps to keep them safe.

Help reduce the risk to your pets:

🐕‍🦺 Keep dogs on a lead around native wildlife
🐈 Keep cats indoors where possible
🚫 Avoid handling or approaching wildlife

If you come across sick or dead wildlife, do not touch it with your bare hands.

If you suspect H5 bird flu in birds, mammals, poultry or other captive birds, report it immediately by calling the Emergency Animal Disease Hotline on 1800 675 888 or to DEECA online.
