Luminary

Luminary Brighter digital experiences 💡 Luminary is a great place to work. How do we know? In fact, we have people who have chosen to stay with our team for over a decade.

Because once people start working at Luminary they generally don’t want to leave! Their number one reason? Because they keep loving what they do. Here are some other reasons to come and join the Luminary team. We do as we say
-----------------------
Like most workplaces we have a number of values that underpin the way we go about what we do. But how do you make words like Family, Fun, Integrity and Quality into something that makes a difference to the work you do every day? These aren’t listed on the wall like some abstract art. Instead they represent who we are or who we are striving to be. Family to us means thinking people first, in every situation. There’s no point working everyone to the bone to deliver a project on time, if at the end of it no-one wants to come to work the next day! That’s how Luminary is different. The right culture
----------------------
We believe that people should be treated with dignity and respect, regardless of their position, approach, skills or background. We have fostered a culture that focuses on each other, meaning the team is always priority #1. Sure, there are sometimes hiccups. However our approach is that anything can be resolved with communication, and so we encourage everyone to communicate often and early. Office space
-----------------
We love our office. We’re based over two levels in the Melbourne CBD, right in the heart of the action. With a fully stocked kitchen, daily breakfast, real coffee on tap, soft drink in the fridge and all you can eat fruit we’re pretty comfortable! We make sure the two levels come together often, so everyone still feels part of the team. In fact, sometimes you can get a great workout running up and down those stairs! Socially active team
---------------------------
Everyone loves a party, and we have a few! Once a month we let our hair down, with some kind of awesome activity. One month could be trampolining, the next could be poker. Regardless of what it may be, it’s a great opportunity to let your hair down and get to know your co-workers. Every Friday afternoon (after our internal training and development sessions) we have a beer to celebrate the week and start the weekend off right. And most importantly, once a month we have lunch with the entire team. We like to spend time together, and we create plenty of opportunities to do just that. Continual improvement
-------------------------------
We’re always looking for ways to improve, and we believe there is no better way to do that than with ongoing training and development. So we provide plenty of opportunities to learn new things. Most weeks we have internal training sessions, on topics that vary wildly. There’s always something new to learn! We also believe in learning what’s happening in our industry as well, and actively participate in conferences such as Web Directions South, Web Directions Code, and our varying industry associations.

Somewhere in your marketing team, there's a file called final_v3_ACTUALFINAL. Nobody's sure which campaign it belongs to, and the person who made it is on long service leave. Familiar?

That's the journey most website projects never map: how your team will manage it from brief to publish. Client Partner Bridget Van Soest makes the case for giving it the same rigour your customers get.

There's an often overlooked audience in the website building space that platforms are finally starting to properly factor into the process.

One thing you can always count on at Luminary is our run clubs! We have them in most of our offices across Australia and Indonesia, and there's no better way to start the day.

Here are some of our team members in Bali getting in an early-morning run before the humidity sets in. Well done, team! 💪

AI knows every best practice guide ever written. The problem isn't the intelligence, it's the obedience. A hundred yes-or-no decisions can produce endless possible websites, and only one of them fits your business. Managing Director Adam Griffith explores why a website is still made up of a few thousand human decisions.

AI really can build a website in a few minutes. It just won't be your website.

You may have seen the recent news about a high-profile Australian chef whose website migration went wrong, wiping out a critical Christmas trading period. It's a story that plays out more often than it should, and protecting a brand's search performance through a migration is something our SEO team works hard to prevent.

Our SEO Principal, Shayna Burns, outlines how embedding SEO from day one, not go-live, changes the outcome.

Website migrations put years of SEO value at risk. Here's how Luminary's cross-functional approach protects rankings and traffic through every step.
