Wanna know what I've LOVED about this year?

Yes, I've loved designing and building websites.

And working with fab clients.

And a whole lotta other work-related stuff.

But an unexpected highlight?

Rediscovering the magic of books.

And by 'books', I mean novels.

I've experienced so much joy this year through reading. Some standouts have been:

✨ Daisy Jones & The Six by Taylor Jenkins Reid

✨ The Dictionary of Lost Words by Pip Williams

✨ The Midnight House by Amanda Geard

✨ Three Women by Lisa Taddeo

✨ The Seven Skins of Esther Wilding by Holly Ringland

✨ Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens

And currently reading and loving:
✨ Sorrow and Bliss by Meg Mason

So thank you 2022 for a year full of ups, downs, connections, creativity and adventures in written form.

With that I'd like to announce my holiday dates (aka dedicated reading time) - I'm away from my desk from 20th December to 9th January. And fully booked until March 2023. ✨💕📖

Change. It's inevitable. And growth? Optional but highly recommended.

Having been in business for 12 years now, I've seen a lot of change and growth along the way. Not just in how I do business but also with setting boundaries and learning (and relearning) to stick by them.

I've known for a long time that I'd eventually change my business name too. Elements of it have felt right but overall?

😬 People had a hard time saying and spelling “resonant”

😬 There’s too many syllables for my liking

😬 “Imagery” doesn’t sum up everything I do

But I wasn't going to change it just for the sake of it. The new name had to *feel* right.

Enter many many months of brainstorming. Special thanks to for being so patient with me as we spent hours workshopping names.

And then we landed on one. And I spent the next month sitting with it. I shared it with a few key people. It was ticking boxes for them. And it gradually started to feel like *it*.

This month I’ve been sitting with the word ‘ease’. And above all else, we want our websites to be easy to use, right? We want our audience to easily find what they are looking for on our website.

So it stands to reason that it’s a good time to review your website. Not just to make sure it’s easy to use but that it’s also showing the correct information, that your contact form works and that it’s doing its job to connect with your audience.

But where to start? 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’ve created a resource to help you with exactly that.

The Website Review Checklist is an interactive PDF and the most comprehensive checklist you’ll need to review your website.

And the best thing? It’s perfect for ALL websites. The items are universal things that you need to be thinking about when it comes to your website. It doesn’t matter if your website is on WordPress, Squarespace, Shopify or Wix.

The checklist covers:

✔️ The essentials checklist that covers branding, menu and images.

✔️ Homepage checklist

✔️ Sales page checklist

✔️ Online shop checklist

✔️ Mobile website checklist

✔️ SEO essentials checklist

✔️ And things to look at in your Google Analytics

Yep, like I said, this resource contains all the items for you to review your website, with ease.

Keen to grab it? $25 later and it’ll land in your inbox ready to go. https://resonantimagery.com.au/product/website-review-checklist/ ✔️✔️✔️

Let’s chat about creating more ease. More ease for you AND for your clients. Making it easy for clients to book a time with me has been a game changer.

I use the Acuity Scheduling app for this but other apps like Calendly work just the same. I’ve created at least 6 different appointment types, such as:

✨ 15 min discovery call for new clients.

✨ 1 hour website consult - clients are able to book a time, pay for it and receive a Zoom link all in the one sequence.

✨ 30 and 60 min options for a website chat - perfect for my clients when we’re knee deep in their website project and communication is key.

✨ 1 hour website tutorial - once a client website has been launched, this is the next step.

Being able to set up these scheduling links and embed some of them in my website pages not only makes things super easy for me and my clients but it’s also super professional.

AND if clients need to change their appointment, they can do that themselves. No back and forth with finding times that work for both of us.

AND AND (perhaps the best thing) I get to set my boundaries. Big time. I provide windows of opportunities when I want to be available and my clients fit in with that.

In case you’ve been on the fence with the whole scheduling app thing, do it. It’s the best and once it’s all set up, you’ll wonder why it took you so long to implement it (at least that was the case for me). Not a sponsored post, just a super happy customer 🌟

BETTER TOGETHER // The truth is... A website design isn’t finished until I get my client’s feedback. I need their input, their little tweaks and their suggestions.

Maybe it’s swapping out a photo.

Or that a section on the homepage doesn’t feel quite right.

Once I get that feedback and make those tweaks though? That’s when the design really takes off. It feels so much more powerful and aligned. And the best thing? My client feels these things too. They feel more connected with their website. So much so, that when we launch their website, they are SO proud of it. They can’t wait to share it, to celebrate it, to OWN it. It just feels so right for them, for me and for their audience. Win, win, win.

Wanna feel that kind of connection to your website? I’ve got space for one more website project before the end of the financial year. Find out about my process here: https://resonantimagery.com.au/website-design-melbourne/ 💕

To blog or not to blog? It’s a question I get asked by pretty much every new client of mine. And the answer isn’t a straightforward yes or no.

In an ideal world? Yes.

In reality? Maybe.

Personally I’m a fan of blog posts. They provide an opportunity to explore topics about websites in more detail. They show my people the depth of knowledge and insights I have about websites. And they provide me with new content to share on socials and my newsletter. Oh and Google can take notice of them too.

So why shouldn’t everyone be blogging? 🤔

The thing is, having a blog is kind of a commitment. It works best if you’re publishing posts regularly. Sure you could go all in and post weekly. For me, once a month or every two months is okay. Whatever timeframe you decide on, try to be consistent with it.

So if finding the time once a month to write new content feels like a mammoth effort (and I get it), maybe a blog isn’t for you. But maybe you don’t need to be the one to write them...

You know copywriters? They often write blog posts for businesses. And they love writing them. If you know the value of blogging but don’t want the pressure of writing one each month, they’re your go-to people.

Ultimately though, your heart needs to be in it. Otherwise, maybe it’s a no? Would love to hear your thoughts 💭💫

WEBSITE LAUNCH // So excited to push live on this powerhouse of a website. 🙌🏻

Kate, founder of Picture My Picture, creates and sells flashcard sets - the ultimate language learning tool. From Verbs to Emotions, there’s many options to help improve word skills.

What makes this website such a great resource? There’s so much education on it about how to use the flashcards and it explains the importance of each topic of flashcards.

Some of the uses? The flashcards are perfect for teaching students with autism, speech therapy, stroke rehab and English as a Second Language.

This ecommerce website has been built on WordPress, so it incorporates an online shop, international pricing and payment through PayPal or Stripe.

This project was an incredible team effort. The main stars of the show:

🤩 created the bright branding and logo designs.

🤩 jazzed up Kate’s website content. Nell also delivered the expert SEO keyword strategy.

🤩 Kate (picturemypicture.com) provided so much info about the functionality she was wanting in such a timely manner.

🤩 And me, putting it all together in a stunning and user friendly way.

Trying things for the first time can be huge. It is for me anyway. And I remember always being like this. I feel a huge amount of discomfort going somewhere for the first time. And don’t get me started on walking into a networking event.

It’s taken me all of Stage 4 lockdown to click and collect. Part of me has been patiently waiting for retail to open back up or I’d just pay extra for shipping. Part of it was also being freaked about the whole click and collect process.

❓How would it work?
❓Will it be clearly signposted as to where I should go?
❓Will I do the wrong thing and get called out?
❓Would I be waiting for my order for ages?

Today I achieved the unthinkable and picked up an order from Bunnings. And I’ve got to say, the experience was nothing like how I had dramatised it in my head.

✔️Signs were everywhere.
✔️Staff were helpful.
✔️It took all of 5 minutes.
✔️And bonus... I didn't look like a foul for potentially doing something wrong.

This all relates to customer experience. The more we prepare our customers and clients for what to expect and then communicate with them along the way, the more the experience is a positive one.

And what better place to really get all of this info out there? Your website. Specifically, an FAQ section, or a My Process section, or a What Happens Next section. Or all of the above.

Take the guesswork out of working with you. Your clients will love you for it. 💕

I've got my processes. I've got my experience. And I've got the skills. But the one thing that needs to be added to every single website I design and build? Client collaboration.

A website can look good and do all the things but when a client gets buy in and is actually invited to give feedback? That takes an online home to the next level and beyond.

With each and every website I work on, I'm reminded of this. And I truly love it. Because when we nail a design together, I know the website is going to make an impact.

When a client is involved, they are more likely to be over-the-moon happy with the website we launch. They have so much confidence to share their website with the world. And their prospective clients really resonate with the website and with that confidence. The sky's the limit from there 💫
