We see the person you care for. But who sees you? 💙

Across Australia, more than 3 million people provide unpaid care for someone they love.

They are husbands and wives. Daughters and sons. Parents, siblings, friends and neighbours.

Many would never describe themselves as carers. They're simply doing what comes naturally when someone they love needs help.

But behind that love is often an enormous, unseen responsibility.

The appointments. The medications. The decisions. The interrupted sleep. The emotional weight of wanting to get everything right.

And sometimes, the loneliness.

According to Carers Australia's 2025 Carer Wellbeing Survey, **42.7% of unpaid carers reported feeling lonely often or always.**

That's more than two in every five carers.

At Leecare, we believe person-centred care means recognising the whole person, their relationships, their preferences, their dignity and the people who matter to them.

Founded by nurses, we've spent more than three decades working alongside care providers, witnessing the extraordinary commitment of families and care professionals.

We know that family carers often hold knowledge that no clinical record can fully capture. The little things that bring comfort. The subtle changes in behaviour. The stories, routines and preferences that make someone who they are.

Their voices matter. And so does their wellbeing.

This National Carers Week, as Australia embraces the theme 'Care for a carer: Making carers visible', we're encouraging everyone to go beyond saying thank you.

💙 Ask a carer how they're really doing.

💙 Listen to what they need.

💙 Offer practical help, rather than waiting to be asked.

💙 Recognise that carers need care, connection and support too.

If you're caring for someone, please know that support is available through Carer Gateway, including counselling, peer support and respite services.

Because when we care for the carer, we're caring for the whole circle of care.

💊 More time to comply. No reason to delay safer medication management.

The Australian Government has extended the deadline for residential aged care homes to adopt electronic prescribing conformant Electronic National Residential Medication Chart (eNRMC) systems.

📅 New deadline: 31 March 2027

The three-month extension recognises the complexity of transitioning medication charts, implementing new systems and maintaining continuity of care throughout the process.

But while the deadline has changed, the importance of safe, accurate and connected medication management hasn't.

For aged care providers, this is an opportunity to review medication workflows, strengthen communication between clinical teams, prescribers and pharmacists, and ensure staff have the systems and training they need.

At Leecare, medication management has long been an integral part of our approach to connected care.

Our P6Med medication management solution integrates with Platinum6, supporting clinical teams with accessible medication information, administration records and more efficient workflows.

Because medication safety isn't simply about meeting a deadline.

It's about supporting the right care, for the right person, every day.

How is your organisation preparing for the next stage of electronic medication management?

As the sun goes down on another International Day of Older Persons, the message behind it should not.

People around the world are living longer. By 2050, the global population aged 60 and over is expected to reach 2.1 billion, almost double the proportion it represented in 2015.

Here in Australia, ageing is reshaping our communities too. Today, around 1 in 6 Australians is aged 65 or over, and that proportion is projected to reach almost 1 in 4 by 2065–66.

Longer lives bring enormous opportunity, but they also ask something of us.

How do we ensure those additional years are lived with dignity, choice, connection, security and meaning?

How do we build health, care and community systems that evolve alongside the people they exist to support?

For Leecare, these questions have always mattered.

Care has been at the centre of our thinking from the beginning, with technology designed to support the people delivering care and, ultimately, the people receiving it.

Because older people are not simply recipients of services.

They are parents and grandparents. Partners and friends. Teachers, leaders, carers, innovators, storytellers and holders of a lifetime of knowledge.

As today comes to a close, the conversation must continue.

Longer lives should also be better lives. 💜

An important Support at Home change takes effect today, 1 October 2026 🗓️

Eligible older Australians will no longer pay a participant contribution for approved personal care services under Support at Home.

Personal care has moved from the Independence contribution category to Clinical Supports, meaning the Australian Government will fully fund these services through a participant’s available Support at Home budget.

The change applies where personal care is approved in the person’s support plan and they have Support at Home funding available.

Personal care includes some of the most fundamental parts of daily life, including showering, dressing, personal hygiene, assistance with eating, non-clinical continence management and assistance with self-administration of medication.

These are not simply services.

They are part of supporting dignity, independence and quality of life.

As Support at Home continues to evolve, providers are navigating changing funding arrangements, reporting requirements and increasingly rigorous expectations around transparency and governance.

For more than three decades, Leecare has worked alongside the Australian care sector as regulation, funding models and expectations have changed.

Through every reform, our focus remains the same: technology should help organisations manage complexity while keeping the person receiving care at the centre.

Because systems may change.

The purpose of care doesn’t. 💙

This week is Dementia Action Week in Australia. 💙

And this year's message is beautifully simple:

💬 It's time to talk about dementia 💬

👉Today, an estimated 446,500 Australians are living with dementia.
👉Around 1.7 million people are involved in their care.
👉More than half of people living in permanent residential aged care have dementia.

And dementia, including Alzheimer's disease, is now Australia's leading cause of death.

These are significant numbers.

But behind every number is a person.

A life lived. A family. A history. Favourite songs. Familiar routines. Foods they love. Things that make them laugh. Things that make them feel safe. People they recognise, even when finding the words becomes difficult.

At Leecare, this is something we have understood from the beginning.

Our founder, Dr Caroline Lee, has spent her career in nursing, gerontology and aged care. She has also experienced caring for her own ageing parents, writing about the importance of observing, listening and learning what mattered to them as individuals.

It is an idea that has shaped Leecare for more than three decades.

Care should begin with the person.

Technology can capture information.

It can connect care teams.

It can help us recognise changes, understand preferences, communicate with families and give staff the information they need at the point of care.

But technology should never replace the most important part.

Listening.

This Dementia Action Week, Dementia Australia is asking Australia to start talking about dementia.

We'd like to add one thing.

When we talk, let's make sure we listen too. 💙

To the person living with dementia.

To their families.

To the people who know them.

And to the care professionals supporting them every day.

Because a diagnosis may change the way someone communicates.

It does not change their right to be heard.

🤍 Care 🤍

It's in our name and at the very core of what we do 💌

Support at Home changes the question technology leaders need to ask.

It is no longer only: can the system roster and invoice?

Providers also need clarity across care plans, funding, delivered services, claims and executive oversight. When these areas are disconnected, pressure can remain hidden until it becomes a reconciliation, compliance or service-delivery issue.

P6Community, as part of Leecare’s Platinum6 platform, brings clinical governance and funding integrity into one connected operating model. It supports earlier visibility, stronger claims governance and greater confidence from the field to the Board.

Our P6Community Strategy Session starts with your operating model, not a standard demo. We map current arrangements against the Layered Care Maturity framework and identify service risk, funding and claims friction, and visibility gaps.

Yesterday was R U OK? Day.

Today, we're asking again.

Because for the people who spend their working lives caring for others, wellbeing cannot be a conversation we have just once a year 💙🧡💜

New Australian research involving 1,085 residential aged care workers found 56% reported elevated burnout, 35% symptoms consistent with anxiety, and 24% symptoms indicating probable depression. Perhaps most concerning, 42% said there had been a time when they needed help or advice for their mental health or emotional wellbeing, but hadn't accessed it.

Other recent Australian research offers an important perspective on what can help. Aged care workers spoke about the importance of being able to provide good care, feeling heard and appreciated, supportive colleagues and supervisors, meaningful relationships with older people, and having enough time and resources to do their jobs well. They had little interest in “tokenistic” approaches to wellbeing.

There is hope in that research too. When people are supported to do the work they came into aged care to do, caring for others can itself be a source of purpose, connection and wellbeing.

So perhaps the conversation after R U OK? Day matters just as much as the conversation on it.

Keep asking. Keep listening. Keep checking in.

Not just yesterday. Any day. 💙

Ageing is global. Care is personal. 💙

Today is World Senior Citizens Day, a day to recognise and celebrate older people and the extraordinary contribution they make to our families, communities and societies.

Our world is ageing. By 2030, one in six people globally will be aged 60 or over.

But behind that statistic are millions of individual lives.

People with stories to tell.
People with relationships that matter.
People with preferences, choices and aspirations.
People who deserve to be heard, respected and cared for.

At Leecare, we have always believed that the person must remain at the centre of care.

Founded by nurses, we understand that technology and good systems have an important role to play, but ultimately their purpose is to support something profoundly human: helping people live with dignity, independence, connection and respect.

As populations age across Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, the United Kingdom and around the world, caring well for older people will become one of the defining responsibilities of our generation.

Today, we celebrate the people behind the statistics and thank the nurses, carers, families, communities and organisations who support them every day.

Because every person deserves to feel seen, heard, valued and cared for. At every age. 💙

Care teams should not have to choose between being present with people receiving care and keeping up with documentation, coordination and compliance 🤔

Across Australia, Aotearoa New Zealand and the United Kingdom, home, retirement and community care providers are managing workforce pressure, increasingly complex needs and higher expectations for clear, accountable care.

The challenge is not simply collecting more information. It is making the right information visible while decisions can still make a difference.

Leecare’s Platinum6 platform connects care, operational and financial information in one integrated environment. This gives teams clearer visibility, supports earlier action and helps create more time for care🩵
