Google has been telling us for years that helpful, well-written content is what earns visibility in search. AI is now making that more true, not less.

When a patient asks ChatGPT or Google's AI Overviews to recommend a physio in their area or explain what a condition means, those tools are pulling from what is already published online. Your website is one of the primary sources they learn from.

Thin service pages, vague descriptions and outdated information are not just bad for SEO. They actively limit how accurately and confidently AI can represent your practice to the patients looking for you.

Clear, specific, patient-focused content has always been good practice. Right now, it is one of the most practical things a healthcare practice can do to stay visible as search continues to evolve.

A patient who cannot easily book with you will often just book with someone else.
It sounds blunt, but it is one of the most common ways practices lose patients they have already attracted. The SEO worked. The website made a good impression. Then the booking process got in the way.

A simple, user-friendly booking experience means patients can find the right appointment type quickly, understand what to expect before they arrive, and complete the process without having to call during business hours to clarify something that should have been obvious online.

It is worth running through your own process as if you were a new patient. How many steps does it take? Is it clear what to book and why? Can you do it on mobile in under two minutes?

Small friction points in the booking process can quietly cost a practice more than most realise.

If a nearby practice has started appearing above yours in local search results, it is worth knowing why before assuming you need to spend more on marketing.

Today, that means thinking beyond Google. AI tools are increasingly surfacing local providers too, and the practices that show up consistently tend to have the same thing in common: they have got the basics right.

There are generally about 7 things we check first if a practice is struggling against a local competitor. We’ve put these into a blog post. Swipe through for the first two things worth checking, then visit the blog on our website for all 7.

Patients are making decisions about your practice before they walk through the door. What they see on your website, your Google Business Profile and your social media shapes that first impression.

As AI-generated content becomes more prevalent, patients are increasingly tuned out to anything that feels generic. Stock photography is no exception. Your team, your space and your story cannot be replicated by a library image, and that distinction is becoming more valuable, not less.

Custom photography and video introduce your practitioners before a patient has spoken to anyone, build confidence in a way written content alone cannot, and work across your website, social media, Google Business Profile and paid advertising all from a single shoot.

We offer Melbourne-based packages designed specifically for healthcare practices. All handled end to end with minimal disruption to your day.

AHPRA advertising guidelines do not apply to just one part of your marketing. They apply to all of it.

Your website, your social media, your Google Business Profile, your Google Ads, your email content. Every channel where your practice is visible to patients falls under the same framework.

The inconsistency we see most often is not intentional. It tends to happen when different people manage different channels, or when content that was written before the guidelines changed is still sitting live on the website.

It is worth asking: is everything aligned? And has anything been updated recently that may need a compliance review?

Your website has seconds to earn a patient's trust before they move on to the next result.

Most practices put significant effort into getting people to their site. Far less goes into what happens when they arrive.

Here are four questions worth asking about your own website right now.

👁️Is it scannable? Patients skim before they read. If your key services, locations and booking options aren't visible at a glance, you are losing people before they engage.

📱Is it accessible? Can patients find you on mobile, load your pages quickly and navigate without friction? If not, both patients and search engines will notice.

✅Is it AHPRA-friendly? Guaranteed outcomes, superlative claims, testimonials used as marketing, before-and-after content without appropriate context. Any of these on your site could create compliance risk.

🤝Is it trust-building? Clear practitioner bios, transparent fee information, plain-language service descriptions and a straightforward booking pathway all do more for conversion than any promotional copy.

If any of these flagged something worth looking at, it is worth looking at properly. Link in bio to book a free strategy call.

Most healthcare practices know AHPRA advertising guidelines exist. Fewer know exactly where the lines are, and what it costs when they're crossed.

For an individual practitioner, a breach can result in fines of up to $60,000. For a body corporate, up to $120,000 per offence.

The rules cover more than most practices realise. Your website, your social posts, your Google ads, your service pages, your before-and-after content, all of it falls under the same framework.

The good news is that compliant marketing, done well, tends to resonate more with patients anyway. Clear, honest, balanced information builds the kind of trust that converts.

We've refreshed our full guide to AHPRA advertising compliance for healthcare practices.

When a patient types "why does my lower back hurt" they are still researching. When they type "physio near me" they are ready to book.

Those two searches need completely different responses from your website. Most practices only optimise for one of them.

Search intent is about understanding where a patient is in their decision-making, and making sure your content meets them there. Get it right and you show up at every stage of the patient journey, not just the last one.
