Kaboose App

Kaboose App Kaboose exists to create belonging, understanding, and support for neurodivergent people.

At the heart of what we do are Neuro Nuggets, our short, practical guides that help you understand how your brain works and find ways to make work and life easier.

Struggling with the recruitment process doesn’t mean you’re not capable of doing the job.

Applications, interviews and vague questions can test how well someone navigates the hiring process, not how well they’ll perform in the role.

For neurodivergent candidates, unclear expectations, time pressure and unfamiliar environments can create extra barriers before they’ve had the chance to show what they can do.

A more inclusive recruitment process benefits everyone:
đź’› Share questions in advance
đź’› Use clear, specific language
đź’› Offer different ways to demonstrate skills
đź’› Ask candidates what adjustments would help

Talent shouldn’t be overlooked because the recruitment process wasn’t designed with every mind in mind.

Burnout isn’t always about overworking or simply doing more than we have the capacity for.

For neurodivergent people, burnout can also be connected to the ongoing strain of navigating executive dysfunction, masking, sleep difficulties, intense periods of hyperfocus and other demands that can gradually take a toll — many of which can become such a familiar part of everyday life that we may not always recognise how much energy they require. 🧠

In our recent Divergent Discussion, Jack Palmer shares an important reminder that burnout doesn’t have one single cause or look the same for everyone. What contributes to burnout for one person may be very different for someone else.

Understanding our own patterns, needs and experiences can be an important part of recognising what may be contributing to burnout and what support might help. 🌱

Taking a moment before responding gives us time to process what someone has said, consider the information and think about what we actually want to communicate. đź’

In our recent Divergent Discussion, Dan Jones shares a simple approach: pause, consider the facts and give yourself time to process before responding, even if that means coming back to the conversation later.

That small ⏸️ pause can create space for a more thoughtful response rather than one based on assumptions.

Do you give yourself time to pause and process before responding? Share your thoughts with us in the comments.

Talking openly with kids about what an assessment is, why it’s happening and what they can expect can help make the experience feel less daunting.

An assessment can be an opportunity to learn more about how their brain works, what they might need and how we can better support them. Including kids in these conversations can also help them understand that learning more about their brain can be a positive part of understanding themselves.

In our latest Divergent Discussion, Jessie Mewshaw shares how approaching these conversations positively can help kids understand that learning more about their brain can be a good thing - because when we know more about our brains, we can learn more about how to take care of them. đź’›

How do you approach conversations about ADHD or neurodivergence with your kids? Share with us in the comments.

Making friends is hard. Really hard.

There’s no perfect guide for finding your people, and when socialising feels confusing, exhausting or overwhelming, friendship can seem even further out of reach.

But struggling to make friends doesn’t mean there’s something wrong with you. You deserve friendships where you feel safe, accepted and able to be yourself, without pretending, performing or trying to fit into someone else’s idea of “normal.”

Finding your people can take time. That doesn’t make the connection any less possible. 💛

Figuring out how you best connect to other people (like me with information-sharing!) and identifying safe spaces and people who are willing and able to reciprocate is HUGE! That's the whole reason we created Kaboose.

The Kaboose community is where neurodivergent people talk to each other. Not a forum full of strangers arguing, and not a feed designed to keep you scrolling. Just groups built around the things people are actually navigating, and thousands of members around the world who’ve been there. You can join in, or you can read quietly first. Both are fine.

When interviews reward a candidate’s ability to understand unwritten social rules, give the “right” answers and perform confidently in the room, we may be measuring how well they navigate the interview process rather than how capable they are of doing the job.

For neurodivergent candidates, those unspoken expectations can become another barrier to demonstrating what they can actually bring to the role.

Maybe the question isn’t just, “How well did they interview?” but “Did our interview give them a fair opportunity to show us what they can do?”
