Grateful to be part of , an exhibition commemorating the 80th Liberation Day (광복 80주년).
Eighty Korean designers have come together to reinterpret the Taegukgi, each offering a unique perspective on its meaning today. 🇰🇷

Thank you to the team at for inviting me to be part of such a meaningful project. You can explore the full exhibition at www.815tt.kr. 👈🏻👈🏻

Artist Statement

August 15th, Independence Day (광복절), is the only national holiday still celebrated by both North and South Korea. In a divided nation, this shared remembrance is rare and powerful. My design begins with this truth: before separation, there was unity—and in 1945, we regained the same light together.

At the center, I reinterpreted the four trigrams of the Taegukgi (건, 곤, 감, 리), arranging them in a radiating burst to symbolize the return of “light” (광복) and the collective energy of liberation.

Behind this, alternating red and blue stripes represent the nine provinces of South Korea and the nine of North Korea. Placed side by side, they reflect balance, coexistence, and a hope for reunification.

My design is bold and symbolic, yet deeply rooted in history. The burst of light represents not only the moment of liberation, but also the enduring hope for a united future.

✨ Just wrapped a mini packaging project using AI-generated type—and we’re blown away by the possibilities. What once took hours, now takes minutes.

At Courtney Kim Studio, we’re embracing AI not as a shortcut, but as a powerful tool to push creativity, precision, and impact even further. This is just the beginning—and we’re excited to lead the way in the future of brand design.

little bit retro, a little bit radical ✨

When creating the SWIFF brand design, I was inspired by the bold, chunky type you’d see on classic household cleaning brands — giving it a fun twist with a clean palette and custom lettering. I wanted it to feel both familiar and fresh, something you’d trust on today’s shelves.

It was such a nice surprise to see it recognised by DesignRush among their Best Logo Designs ⭐️ ️

Launching something new? Let’s create a brand identity that stands out.

That’s Amore Cheesery just got a menu glow-up ✨

We swapped their A4 laminated, spring-bound menu for something that feels just right in your hands—plastic-free, easy to clean, and made to last.

Big shoutout to our friends at for bringing it to life with their spot-on quality and finishing touches.

With stripes and a deep wine-red palette, it’s got that perfect Italian charm. 🍷🧀
