BRUTONA - a fusion of brutal and tonal - encapsulates the balance between raw strength and refined expression. Rooted in soft brutalism, it explores the interplay of structure and fluidity, where resilience meets adaptability. Designed in Ultra-High-Performance Concrete (UHPC), BRUTONA redefines conventional concrete applications by merging sustainability with sculptural elegance. It aligns with principles of longevity, repair, regeneration, and reuse, ensuring a responsible approach to design. The form consists of intersecting curved panels supported by tensile elements, striking a balance between concave and convex surfaces. A central vertical pillar stabilizes the structure, enhancing its upward motion and fluidity evoking natural forms yet rooted brutalist principles. The design creates a dialogue between solid mass and open voids, symbolizing weight and transparency. The balance of gravity, symmetry, and load-bearing curves reflects architectural precision and experimental design. With dimensions of 6 feet by 6 feet, BRUTONA is human-scaled, inviting interaction and contemplation. It fosters conversations on material innovation, ecological consciousness, and sustainability.
