πŸ“’ NDIS PROVIDERS: New pricing changes start 1 December 2026.

The NDIA announced higher national maximum prices for FOUR specific support items from 1 December 2026:

β€’ House/yard maintenance: $59.01 β†’ $63.42/hr
β€’ House cleaning & household activities: $60.10 β†’ $64.59/hr
β€’ Personal domestic assistance: $61.16 β†’ $65.73/hr
β€’ Specialised home-based assistance for a child: $61.16 β†’ $65.73/hr

Important: These are maximum price limits, NOT automatic fee increases. Eligible support delivery dates matter. Item numbers and the claiming process remain unchanged. Discuss and obtain participant agreement before changing existing service agreements.

NDIS providers: three October 2026 changes worth acting on now.

1️⃣ From 1 October, some Social, Economic and Community Participation and Improved Daily Living Skills budgets are reduced when new or reassessed plans are issued. Renewals are affected from 1 February 2027. Not all supports are affected.

2️⃣ Since 15 October, claims more than 90 days after delivery may face extra checks and a hold of up to 28 days.

3️⃣ From December 2026, claims generally must be submitted within 90 days of service delivery.

Review outstanding claims, check participant plan changes, and ensure your billing records are complete.

πŸ“’ NDIS PARTICIPANT UPDATE | 6 developments to know β€” October 2026

The latest NDIA participant newsletter highlights:

πŸ’° SUPPORT BUDGETS: Selected supports in Social, Economic and Community Participation and Improved Daily Living Skills may be reduced as plans are reassessed or renewed through 30 September 2027. Not all supports are affected.

⏰ CLAIMING: From TODAY, 15 October, extra checks apply to claims submitted 90 days or more after support delivery. From 1 December 2026, the general 90-day claiming deadline starts, with exceptional-circumstances provisions.

πŸ“„ SERVICE AGREEMENTS: New NDIA templates, guidance, checklists, Easy Read resources and a how-to video are available to help participants and providers make clear agreements. The NDIA template is optional.

πŸ’Ό YOUTH EMPLOYMENT: A new NDIA report shares insights for participants aged 15–24 and their employment-support providers.

πŸ—£οΈ PLANNING REFORM: Eligible participants can volunteer for paid testing of the new planning approach ahead of its planned April 2027 rollout. Taking part does not change current funding or eligibility.

πŸ—“οΈ WEBINARS: NDIA sessions explain new NDIS laws, support budgets and reassessments.

🚨 NDIS CLAIMING UPDATE | Extra checks start tomorrow β€” 15 October 2026

The NDIA will carry out additional integrity checks on claims submitted MORE THAN 90 DAYS after the support was delivered.

⏳ Claims older than 90 days may be held for up to 28 days while checks take place.
πŸ“‹ The NDIA may request supporting information or evidence before payment.
βœ… Claims submitted within 90 days continue through the usual claiming process.

WHAT PROVIDERS AND PLAN MANAGERS SHOULD DO:
βœ” Review overdue invoices and outstanding claims.
βœ” Submit valid claims promptly after support delivery.
βœ” Keep service agreements, attendance and delivery records accurate and accessible.
βœ” Follow up any NDIA evidence requests without delay.

⚠️ This is an additional-checks change, NOT an automatic rejection of claims older than 90 days. A separate 90-day claiming timeframe is due from 1 December 2026, subject to exceptional-circumstances provisions.

πŸ“’ MEDICARE UPDATE | Important MBS changes from 1 November 2026

Two confirmed Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) updates are approaching:

πŸ‘§ MEDICARE HEALTHY KIDS CHECK
A health assessment for children aged 3 will be introduced under existing time-tiered MBS health assessment items (701–707 and 224–227). The aim is to identify developmental concerns early and help families access advice, referrals and support.

πŸ“ž FOUR NEW TELEPHONE CHRONIC CONDITION MANAGEMENT ITEMS
Eligible GPs and prescribed medical practitioners will be able to prepare or review chronic condition management (CCM) plans by telephone using new items 92033, 92034, 92063 and 92064.

βœ… WHAT PROVIDERS SHOULD DO
Review MBS eligibility and claiming requirements, update practice billing references and brief reception and administration teams before 1 November. These are GP/medical practitioner items, not new standalone allied health therapy rebates.

The new NDIS Commission Portal launches Monday 12 October.

⚠️ Behaviour support providers: draft Behaviour Support Plans remaining in the existing portal at transition may be removed and cannot be recovered. Complete and submit any drafts you need to retain before the outage where possible.

βœ… Check outstanding portal tasks and prepare to review staff access after go-live. If a reportable incident occurs while the portal is unavailable, retain the evidence and lodge it as soon as the portal is accessible, following the Commission's incident guidance.
