What a horrible trend, targeting Aged Care in Australia at this time.

Recently there has been a significant increase in healthcare or COVID-19 themed malicious cyber activity, including targeting of the aged care and healthcare sectors by financially motivated cyber criminals using the ‘Maze’ ransomware.

The latest attacks against Australia have been going on for some time, they are pretty vanilla flavored, copy and past hacks that have been run before, the most significant factor is that the have been sustained for several months, the most likely actor being China. The Federal Government are unlikely to name them, due to the current huge economic threats against Australia.

If you are using RDP/SSH over SSL to your virtual machines, take a look at Bastion on Azure, it will allow you to traverse corporate firewalls effortlessly and at the same time, restrict Azure Virtual Machines to only private IPs.

NYE 2020 next Tuesday, 20 years after the first bug in Y2K, when I was at my helpdesk at at Smith's Snackfoods in Chatswood at 5 am New Year's Day to deal with the meltdown on earth, and it's going to happen again next Wednesday...nah gammon, there was nothing to worry about then, and nothing to worry about now!

Amazon actually started the Enterprise Cloud solution, Google was faffing about for many years, and then MS caught up. Since they have finally got their act together, I'd recommend Microsoft O365, and Azure AADS. What MS have done for the last 25 years kept up with the needs of our population; unlike our governments. I have no shame in saying that, our government have failed us so very much from a technology perspective!
