🍵 melbourne matcha review.
Matcha Kobo
Probably the best matcha in Melbourne so far (?) 🫣
— Stone-milled in-house matcha sourced from Uji (⭐️4.5/5) — nutty 🥜
— Ceremonial grade matcha (⭐️4.5/5) — stronger umami 🍵
Both were excellent, hand-whisked, but the wait time was over an hour. Will definitely be back once the hype dies down!
⸻
Osoi
— Iced matcha latte (⭐️3/5) 🍵 — taste was good, however, wasn’t exceptional.
— Matcha cloud (⭐️3.5/5) ☁️— unique in a good way!
Flavours were decent, but the location is quite far from the CBD and the wait time was over an hour. Probably wouldn’t make the trip again.
⸻
Hikari
— Hot matcha latte (⭐️4/5) 🍵 — rich umami
— Matcha foam with jasmine tea & coconut (⭐️4/5) 🥥— a refreshing twist if you’re after something different!
Would happily come back for this!
⸻
Little Rogue
— Hot matcha latte (⭐️3.5/5)
The OG 🍵 A solid option if you prefer a sweet matcha latte, less umami.
⸻
Naau
— Iced matcha latte (⭐️1/5) — a big no, unfortunately 🥹
— Hot pistachio matcha latte (⭐️4/5) — nutty goodness 🥜
Disappointed with their regular matcha latte, matcha wasn’t hand-whisked - but pre-made into liquid, but the pistachio version is a standout and would be my go-to here!
⸻
Karomi
— Hot matcha latte (⭐️4/5) — rich umami 🍵
Sweetness level is better than Little Rogue for me. Would definitely return!
⸻
JSY Tea
— Ceremonial grade matcha latte (⭐️2/5)
Hand-whisked, however, unfortunately, not this one 🥹
⸻
Balibola
— Matchamisu (⭐️3/5) 🍵
— Matcha cloud (⭐️2/5) ☁️
Used to love their matcha latte when they first opened, but the quality has dipped over time. The foam still delivers, but the bottom layers lack that matcha punch 🥲
⸻
Meetforest
— Hot matcha latte (⭐️4/5) — balanced umami 🍵
A hidden gem in South Yarra! 🏡 Highly recommend trying their hojicha and genmaicha too!
